We are presently accepting papers for the sixth and seventh annual volume
(Jan. 2003/Jan.2004), which will concentrate on the following topics:

Volume 6 "History of Ethics" (to appear in Jan. 2003),
Volume 7 "History of Philosophy of Science" 8 to appear in Jan. 2004).

The deadline for papers is 31 May 2002 for volume 6; resp. 31 May 2003 for
volume 7. Furthermore, papers concerning the classics throughout the
History of Philosophy are welcome at any time. The languages of publication
are English and German. Papers must be submitted together with an
electronic version. Electronic versions may be sent to us as attachment by
e-mail. Each paper should also begin with a short abstract.

Artificial life is an interdisciplinary scientific and engineering
enterprise investigating the fundamental properties of living systems

artificial media. The Artificial Life VIII conference will showcase the
best current work in this area of research and highlight promising new
avenues of investigation. It continues a successful series of
international conferences started in 1987 by Chris Langton.
