I'm reading David Cassidy's biography of Heisenberg ("Uncertainty"), and I
note that Cassidy frequently refers (in the references) to the multivolume
work by Jagdish Mehra and Helmut Rechenberg, "The Historical Development of
Quantum Mechanics".

I vaguely recall reading some kind of complaint about Mehra's and
Rechenberg's work in this newgroup, but I don't remember what the complaint
was. If the original poster reads this, could he or she repost (or email)?

Someone said that historians of science find this book naive or
something. Maybe so, but I think it's nice to have a multivolume work
around that gives a play-by-play description of the history of QM. I
would expect that at least the *facts* are right, even if their
interpretation is arguable.
