After Caesar defeated Pompey in 48 B.C.,
he took a couple of months to get the nations
in the Middle East under Roman control,

and when he returned to Rome, he said:
"I came. I saw. I conquered."

Why did he say this?

Well, that and he didn't say it when he returned to Rome, it was in a
letter he sent to Rome.

Actually he was in a civil war and sending the message he would
make short work of his opponents.

Because he was simply stating the animal morality of the day. If
someone else has something of value you want and you have the ability
to take it, you do so. If someone irritates you, and gets in your way,
you kill them. Simple, effective, and with a long-standing historical
tradition as the foundation of "civilization".

What an astute and insightfull analysis of the Roman civil war of 49 BC.

It is interesting to see that my Pal Jim Pennino
states that Caesar not only talked about his
exploits in the Middle East, but also wrote a letter
on the same subject.

As a student of history,
I will be looking forward to seeing Jimmy
provide a reference to the letter that Caesar wrote,
as I would like to see what else was on his mind
at that time.

Regarding Jim Pennino's comment:

"Actually he was in a civil war and sending the message he would

make short work of his opponents.",

considering that the civil war was over,
and Caesar had no competitors,

and considering that Caesar's opponent in the civil war
was "Pompey the Great",

and that Pompey got his "Great" title from
winning wars in the Middle East,

I suggest that Caesar was trivializing
what Pompey had done to earn his "Great" title
was no big deal.

Whereas Pompey had taken years and used many men
and much resources to subdue the Middle East,
Caesar did it in a few weeks
on his return to Rome.

I am surprised to see that my pal Eric Gisse,

"Why did Caesar say "I came. I saw. I conquered."

I am sure that the more intelligent readers

that hero worship of individuals like Einstein and Feynman,
tends to glorify race and religion,
and inhibits the search for scientific truth.

Who's complaining?

I'm just pointing out that hero worshipping,
and defying physicists is stupid because
it "inhibits the search for scientific truth."

Laws are being passed to prevent restaurants,
ethnic and general, from inhibiting healthfulness.

Laws should also be passed
to inhibit public funds and the mass media
from deifying people in the sciences
as this leads to multi billion dollar
taxpayer supported education, useless experiments,
and the use of inferior and inefficient models,
such as Lamarckism and General Relativity.
