The chorus of comparisons between President Obama and the only president
to resign in disgrace is growing by the day, as the administrations
scandals appear to pile up.
Whether the comparisons are fair or not, columnist George Will perhaps
led the charge -- after citing the Article of Impeachment against
President Nixon in an opinion piece this week.
Will recalled the line: "He has, acting personally and through his
subordinates and agents, endeavored to cause, in violation of the
constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax
investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner."

Scores of websites and blogs have since invoked the Nixon comparison, as
did Sen. Orrin Hatch, who speaking to reporters about the IRS scandal
said Tuesday, "I've never seen anything quite like this, except in the
past during the Nixon years."
The Boston Herald's front page on Tuesday was also emblazoned with the
headline, "I Know Nothing," with a sub-headline reading:
"(coincidentally, that's what Nixon said.)

The president is dealing with several scandals at once, including the
fallout from the Benghazi terror attack, the Justice Departments
seizing of phone records from the Associated Press and the IRS program
of singling out Tea Party and other groups for scrutiny.
While Obama has called the IRS targeting of conservatives "outrageous,"
and late Wednesday announced the resignation of acting IRS Commissioner
Steven Miller, investigations are just now getting under way.
There is no evidence, as of yet, that the scandal leads to the Oval
Office. But the comparisons to Nixon are inevitable. While the disgraced
Nixon did, indeed, use the IRS to target political enemies, he may have
been seeking to avenge friends and supporters who, themselves, had been
targeted by the IRS in earlier presidencies -- among them Elvis
Presley, Billy Graham and John Wayne.
Regardless of the motive, one thing separates todays IRS from that of
earlier administrations -- its technological capability.
The IRS's mainframe computer in Martinsburg, W.Va., is among the worlds
most powerful. As of October 2010, the Internal Revenue Service had the
capability to sift through emailing patterns associated with millions of
individual Internet addresses.

The IRS continues to collect tax data, but they also are now acquiring
huge volumes of personal information on taxpayers digital activities,
from eBay auctions, Facebook posts, and, for the first time ever, credit
card and e-payment transaction records.
And unlike in the Nixon administration, the IRS is, under the Obama
Administration, set to expand its workforce by 15,000 to collect health
information in accordance with provisions of the president's Affordable
Care Act by the end of this year.

Jennifer Stefano, a member of Americans for Prosperity -- who gave up
her own quest to form a Tea Party group with friends in 2010 after the
IRS threatened to examine her emails, Facebook and Twitter accounts --
voiced concern of a scenario that was perhaps more Orwellian than Nixonian.

What my concern is, is that four years after the IRS has expanded to
police the nation's health care law, how many stories of abuse are going
to emerge from this and what will be the impact? It will be far greater
than sidelining political voices. It will affect their lives and their
health. This is wrong, she said.

Come on HArlow. Treeb is very clever. More clever than low wit you.

Nixon didn't do anything that any other POTUS didn't do before him, or has

I won't speak for Hagar, but I will note that just the mention of
comparison between what happened with Nixon during Watergate and the
combination IRS/Benghazi fiasco of the current president is a
carefully and shrewdly spun story, designed to pull your attention
away from the state of collapse that our bureaucracy seems to have
created on its own, and make it all just a bipolar, political issue.

IMO its not a bipolar political issue, nor should it ever be treated
as just another news story. A crime has been committed, complete with
an entire array of criminals and gangsters on both sides of the isle,
in case you decided to miss it. In other words, there are no "bipolar"
issues here. The people involved in the needless deaths of those Navy
Seals, along with the cheaters in the IRS, all need to be reigned in.

It's so sad to see the GOP media machine, once the envy of the civilized
world, fallen into such a state of ruin. It's hard to believe that only
a decade ago, they could make Kerry, an actual, decorated war hero, look
weak compared to GW, who used his daddy's influence to avoid going to
Vietnam.

Now, the GOP just looks pathetic as they try to manufacture some scandal
to pin on Obama. Comparisons between Obama and Nixon are even more absurd
than the scandals they are trying to conjure up.

BTW, interesting assortment of Newsgroups for the cross-posts. Hi, guys!

The oligarchs in charge regardless of whomever we elect or appoint
have done similar mainstream FUD and damage control from the very get-
go. Look at the US Mexican War if you want to further appreciate how
their oligarch skulduggery and its cloak and dagger stuff gets stuff
to happen for their own benefit.

I'd call it high treason, and having them shot as well as their family
and friends and/or especially their insider associates (including
their military industrial complex) reigned in, because they all
directly benefited at the expense and demise of others. Putting GW
Bush and Dick Cheney on a stick, at least for starters would send a
very strong message of what the punishment for high treason
represents, that's long past due.

You'll need to back a lot further than Nixon.

The Oligarch Mafia that's in charge of most everything, takes no

Well, there you go. You think that both Nixon and Obama should be given
a pass.

*** Hey, shit-for-brains ... where on Earth did I ever suggest that ?? All
I'm saying is that we should go after Obama with the same vengeance
they went after Nixon. And no, Nixon was a crook ... they all are

That puts you in the same 'sinking boat' as the liberals that
wish Obama be left alone because.... He's not a crook either.

All of you people are pathetic. The fact that you can't see past your
dogmatic, knee jerk responses would be laughable if it wasn't so true.

*** So whatever happened to "the buck stops here" when you're
caught in some unsavory activity ??? Obama was in charge and he
thusly should fall on his own sword. But I forgot, logic and honesty
doesn't compute with you Liberal cunts.

It is interesting to see that "HVAC" thinks that
Obama is omniescent and omnipotent
and sees and controls everything that
happens in government.

Now it looked to me that Bush
was doing everything he could to
get people and nations to wage war on Iraq,

and everything that he could to smear and intimidate
anyone (You are with us or against us.)
and any nation (Freedom fries).

The Waco Atrocity
occurred on Clinton's watch

Reno gave the BATF orders
to end the stand-off.

The question is:
"Who should get a free pass?"

Should Clinton get a free pass on Waco?
Should Bush get a free pass on Iraq?
Should Obama get a free pass on Benghazi?

"Allowed to exist"? Really, Harlow? Do you and these bozos meet via
Skype or fb to decide who is allowed to ... you know?

I took pictures of Obama's motorcade speedily driving by me, outside
the Hoover building, the other day. Neat!

And now you can buy a civilian sniper-rifle that'll find its target no
matters how far off or how bad your aim is.

Do you plan on buying one of those? (no doubt our Hagar already owns
several)

I own tennis racquets and golf clubs, and have quite the good aim.

I do not want for guns. Also, you are being silly. I would rather have
scotch whiskey with President Obama. Not just a drink either. Lots and
lots of said drinks.

What's on your mind Brad? Speak for yourself and do not project upon
me. Tia.

Why I took pictures? Because I got one of them smartestphones.
Why outside HCHoover building? Because Obama and I were there.
Why drive by me at such a fast rate? Obama's in a rush to resolve USA
problems.
Why Neat? Because that's how I drink my single malts.

I am perplexed...
You took pictures because you can take pictures with your toy camera,
but that to me seems a bad reason to take pictures. Why not take
pictures of your nostril or left shoe because you can? I sometimes
take a picture of my finger with my toy when it gets in the way and
partially obscures the lens, but that is always unintentional.
Because Obama was there:
I have seen many pictures of Obama, he is the temporary king
of the USA coz the American people want a king but get tired of
having to decapitate the bad ones as we heathen English do so
they make sure they only last for eight years.
What makes your pictures special when you can see the temporary
king in newspapers and on TV? Did he give you a knighthood or
something?
Neat: I understand but do not recommend. A little water improves
flavour, the American macho image of throwing it back impresses
me not at all... when in Scotland, do as the Scots do. Flavour is a
personal thing, but have you ever tasted coffee immediately after
a spicy curry? It is wonderful and nothing like coffee.
An Irish coffee has a layer of cream through which you sip the
single malt mixed with coffee.

The tourists kids were all taking pictures of the motorcade. It's
quite the event, given they clear his path and block traffic of
several blocks. I did take really bad pictures, not all that into it.
USA had a Senator named wiener who snapped a picture of his you know,
and posted it globally. Funny how everyone in the MainStreamMedia had
time to surf to find that image.

So that's what inspired the two term eight years limit? Protecting the
Presidents and Kings is a major task. In actuality, no one saw Obama.
A vast caravan drives by, and one presumes Obama is in there. All the
kids yelled for him to stop and wave or say something to them.
Tourists! In all reality, Obama could've been casually walking behind
us all to get to the White House. Probably pretended to wave at the
rushing vehicles -- all the while hoping and smiling for change. It's
a good life, for Him!

Do I project to be that vain? I think not. All I got was an IRS bill!

Spicy curry before coffee combination, I prefer tea. John, we better
be careful here... identity thieves may get too much PII.

All good advice, but there are those in the Highlands who would feel
tortured if their single malts were polluted by mixtures. Must be an
entropy measure thing due to mixing. It's considered rude. Spoiling
their recipe. No, never drink like the macho images -- Hollywood
Productions never lie.

Jesus for King, they really hate having a republic. They are so keen to
have a king they've got giant hands praying for it.

I said WATER, not some mixture. I take it you've never been to
bonny Scotland.

Myple - drinks single malt without water. Strange. Add to data.
