In order to demonstrate how hypocritical and phony

that Google's intent is to effectively shut off easy access
to a center of influence who posts facts and opinions
that the Google Management does not want the public exposed to.
Note that Google is very tolerant in allowing posters
to make rude, crude, dishonest , and even vulgar posts
about Muslims, Christians, Blacks, and Latinos
but make bulletproof posts using quotes from the Torah,
the Magna Carta, old magazines, books and newspapers
that runs counter to the agenda of the Google Management,
and they will do whatever they can to shut off access to
those post, and they will smear the poster
without explanation or recourse.
Of course, the real threat that Google offers to society
is not their dishonest treatment of posters,
nor their "cooking the books" on searches,
but the fact that they are hijacking UseNet,
the last refuge of free speech in the world.
The bottom line is
Google allows lies, deception, vulgarity and personal attacks,
but one thing they won't allow
is for anyone to make an effective case that weakens
the agenda of Google's management.
Google's tactic reminds me of the science fiction story
"To serve man."

Chiseled in stone were claims that Lawrence, the late millionaire
businessman who became an ambassador, had served in the U.S. merchant marine
and had earned the designation of "S1C," the Navy abbreviation for seaman,
first class, which would not have been given to a merchant mariner anyway.
Neither claim was true.
During his 69-year lifetime, Lawrence fabricated his World War II heroics,
his education, how he made his fortune before buying and restoring the Hotel
del Coronado near San Diego, one of America's most beautiful hotels, even
the history of the hotel itself.
His fantastic war story symbolized the love-hate relationship that he had
with the military, say people who know him well. He bristled when Navy jets
roared over his hotel, demanding more than once that the Navy change its
flight paths.
Lawrence's second wife, Michala, insists that he was in the merchant marine
because she said she had seen a scar he described as a war wound. But a
former aide to Lawrence said in an interview that years ago, he had asked
her to research the merchant marine and its role in World War II.
Before he died of a blood disease in January 1996, Lawrence's
misrepresentations went undetected by almost everyone, including President
Clinton, who considered him a friend. The president rewarded Lawrence -- who
gave $200,000 to the Democrats in 1992 and raised millions more -- with an
ambassadorship to Switzerland and eulogized him at his funeral service at
Arlington, the nation's hallowed resting place for its most cherished
heroes.
Clinton told the mourners how Lawrence had suffered a serious head injury
when he was thrown overboard from his ship, the S.S. Horace Bushnell, after
it was hit by a German torpedo in the last days of World War II. The
president said Lawrence had "showed the same courage and resolve he had
shown as a young merchant marine during World War II."
It was not until last weekend that it became known that on the day the
Bushnell was torpedoed, Lawrence was in his native Chicago, attending
classes at Wilbur Wright College.
Now there are regrets and soul-searching. The White House and Army wish that
Lawrence had never been given a waiver to be buried at Arlington. The State
Department has begun an investigation into how it overlooked discrepancies
in his background during its vetting process. Congressional critics say
Lawrence is an extreme example in the abusive tradition of rewarding
financial supporters with ambassadorships.

merchant marine in World War II and was inappropriately granted a waiver to

At the same time, the President defended the Army's decision to grant the
waiver, saying officials who recommended the burial ''acted on the facts as
they knew them.''
The White House spokesman, Michael D. McCurry, said Arlington was ''a place
of sacred honor to all Americans, and no one should be buried there who has
falsified records.'' But Mr. McCurry declined to say whether someone's
remains should be removed if it turned out he lied about his record.
On Thursday, the chairman of a House panel investigating the Arlington
waivers said Mr. Lawrence's claims of wartime service could not be
corroborated by official records.
As officials struggled to learn the truth of Mr. Lawrence's war record,
officials at the University of Arizona said today that Mr. Lawrence had not
earned a degree there a half a century ago, despite the fact that the
achievement was listed, along with the now-disputed merchant marine service,
in a published biography. The 1977-78 edition of Who's Who in American
Politics said Mr. Lawrence graduated from the university in 1947.A

It almost makes me feel sorry for the Clinton folks.
They were having such a good time clinging to their sliver of high ground.
For once they had successfully refuted a nasty allegation, spread on
right-wing talk radio. This one was Grave-gate, that President Clinton had
given big donors who were not veterans eternal resting places in Arlington
National Cemetery.
But the cigars keep exploding.
By the time snippy letters of recrimination from gloating Clinton aides
landed on the desks of reporters who had written about Arlington, the White
House was back in the soup.
It turns out, as it almost always does, that there were a few sticky facts
lying in wait. A Clinton pal, Larry Lawrence, the owner of the lush Del
Coronado Hotel in San Diego and a lavish Democratic contributor -- who
stayed in the Lincoln Bedroom, flew on Air Force One, snagged an
ambassadorship to Switzerland and now sleeps in prime hallowed ground at
Arlington, near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier -- may have reinvented
himself.
He did not, as he contended in Who's Who, graduate from the University of
Arizona. He is not in the Coast Guard's data base of merchant marine seamen,
and he is not on the manifest of crewmen for the S.S. Horace Bushnell, a
ship that was torpedoed by the Nazis off the Russian coast in 1945. Although
some of the seamen had cramps and bruises after the attack, no record has
yet surfaced that anyone on that ship suffered a head injury of the sort the
hotelier talked about so emotionally when he got an award from the Russian
Government in 1993 for his ''heroism'' taking war supplies on the suicide

Inside the sprawling complex of the Pentagon, nothing has been as
controversial in recent years as the furor that erupted after news stories
questioned the process for granting burial waivers at Arlington National
Cemetery. From the beginning, a small cadre of military lawyers warned that
the likelihood of a "scandal" was predictable but avoidable if authorities
would resist political pressure, real or imagined, and just follow the
rules.
The explosive case of Larry Lawrence, the former Clinton ambassador to
Switzerland and a big-time contributor to Clinton and the Democratic Party,
has overshadowed the deeper controversy about the burial waivers. Discovery
that he had fabricated a World War II Merchant Marine service record -- a
record used by the White House and West to argue that the waiver was
justified-fixated both ordinary Americans and the press, overwhelming some
of the larger questions raised by Insight.
So why were some who did not qualify waived and others not? If, as West
suggested, some waivers were not based "merely on political considerations,"
then what other considerations entered the mix? And were the political
considerations only in play at Arlington or at other military burial grounds
as well?

In 1967, due to projected overcrowding, Arlington burials were limited by
Army regs to combat wounded or KIA, highly decorated veterans, retirees with
20 years of service, high government officials with military service, and
immediate family members of eligible vets. Soon after these hard and fast
rules were implemented, the use of waivers began. Partial records indicate
that until 1994, less than a dozen exceptions a year were made. However,
during the 90s, investigations by the Army Inspector General and the House
Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations revealed numerous cases of
political favoritism. For the most part the press ignored the story. However
the 1996 case of a former US Ambassador to Switzerland made national head
lines. A major Clinton campaign funder, Larry Lawrence had lied about his
military service, claiming to have been wounded in combat as a Merchant
Marine in W.W.II. His widow, Sheila Davis (alleged by Arianna Huffington to
have dallied with Clinton), was compelled to remove the body and bury it
elsewhere, at her expense. But rule exceptions continued the odd or
arbitrary admittance to Arlington by non military, unqualified military, or
apparently undeserving military personnel.

How did Lawrence slip through?
WITH LAST WEEK's ghoulish disinterment of M. Larry Lawrence's remains (at
the ostensible request of his widow), the uproar over the waiver that
allowed his burial at Arlington National Cemetery is over.
All but ignored, however, has been the question of how the San Diego
real-estate titan and noted Clinton donor made his way through the State
Department's vetting process -- an enterprise often described as grueling
and, if anything, too thorough. Lawrence was named U.S. ambassador to
Switzerland early in President Clinton's first term.
For several years, Lawrence had been telling virtually anyone who would
listen that he'd been an underage volunteer on the Horace Bushnell, a
Merchant Marine Liberty ship that -- loaded with Soviet-bound war supplies
as well as food -- was torpedoed in the Arctic Ocean in early 1945.
In fact, he never got anywhere near the ship or the Merchant Marine (or, for
that matter, the armed forces). Lawrence's "survival" is attributable to the
fact that he was taking courses at a Chicago junior college -- a decidedly
less hazardous occupation -- when the Bushnell was torpedoed.
(Interestingly, few living Bushnell seamen deem it feasible that anyone
tossed overboard into the freezing Arctic could have survived.)

commercials that allow them to put on this trash.

For a while there, I was getting 100 thousand downloads per day;
the same few files, tiny files, were downloaded over and over again.
Eric Gisse claims he's NOT attacking my band·width yet, oddly,
he knows IMMEDIATELY when it goes down ( VERY BRIEFLY ).
Either he's “in the know” or he's tracking it closer than I am.
If it's not Eric, then it's Robb.
Besides Eric, Robb is the only one traking this closely.
Robb took my posting privileges away*.
I think he runs OctaNews too... perhaps TeraNews as well.

How long do you think fastmail.fm will support a user that attracts that

by building generators, motors, power distribution systems, etc.
Edison was unlike Einstein ,
who created a Tower of Babel,
that uses rubber clocks and rulers
MAKES WORK, and wastes time, money and minds,
speculating on and on and on
about time travel, worm holes, warped space,
dark matter and things beyond man's
capacity to ever experience in time and space,
like the beginning and end of time,
and the mind of God.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
