often provides the information sought.

I share no such contention [that it's impossible to prove or disprove
the existence of any deity], so I don't fit into the agnostic
classification. I also don't fit into the anti-theist classification
because I'm not opposed to people hold positions regarding the
existence or non-existence of deities and supernatural agents (so long
as they don't try to coerce me into believing it).

The context that applies best to me is the atheistic one in that I am
"without belief." This does not mean that I reject belief, or maintain
any position that deities do or don't exist, although I have no qualms
about questioning the credibility of any extraordinary claims that
deities and supernatural agents are real, just like any other claim (so
far I have not encountered any such evidence for the existence of
deities that can be validated using scientific methodology, and so I
remain unconvinced).

Google has actually contributed greatly to society by making
information and knowledge instantly available to the masses.

FaceBook isn't trying to educate, rather they're primary focus is on
social networking, so they don't really fit into the corner you're
trying to paint them into. Although social networking activities can,
and often do, contribute to the "dumbing down" aspect, I don't believe
that this is FaceBook's intention (and they seem to be keeping a
generally neutral position on all this type of nonsense anyway, which
is typical of nearly all major corporations that depend on
maintaining a large customer base).

The mass media often have an agenda so I will agree in general with you
with regard to this, except that even for the mass media I find the
"brainwashing" charge to be a misnomer where it fails as a
non-sequitur. It's important to note that the mass media in a very
different industry the ones that Google and FaceBook are in, as
evidenced right off the bat by their different focus areas, and so
including them in your comparison qualifies as a misnomer.

Your lofty accusations about Google installing software on people's
computers is an outright lie that could easily qualify as libel if
Google was interested in proceeding with legal action against you
because Google does not produce malicious software.

Aside from that, you're making a lot of extraordinary claims, most of
which are incorrect. Indeed there are some useful features provided by
the Scirus web page, but I have no need for them because I can already
achieve much of the same, plus more, with Google's featureset that
can be included conveniently as part of the search criteria against
Google's massive database.

Google's quality, consistency, and popularity also automatically
positions it naturally as most likely to gain new information, in part
because many publishers use Google's free online "webmaster tools" to
submit their new content to the web spider's crawler queue; leaving the
other search databases ignored or classified as possible optional
second choices that can typically be treated as a lower priority. The
reason that Google is the de facto standard is because they have a
strong history of presenting data with impartiality, and a failure to do
this would surely not be helpful to their business model (particularly
in this context of "googling," a.k.a., "internet search," being their
core business).

Anyway, that's my rational justification for my preference to "google."

Regarding Google's contribution to society:
before Google bought DejaNews,
Usenet was a place where rational, intelligent people
respect free speech and generally interacted in a civilized manner,

and anyone could do a DejaNews search and retrieve the
Usenet posts they were searching for.

Google seems to be a particularly serious threat
as they have a race/religion bias,
"cook the books" on Internet searches,
collect all kinds of information about users,
have deep hooks into millions of computers,
selectively allow "Google Bombing" to boost ratings of "desirables",
censors access to the posts of posters
who make posts the Google management
does not want the masses exposed to,
and slanders the posters by declaring that
they have been banned by Google
without providing proof or opportunity to reply,

and potentially the most severe threat of all
is the fact that Google has basically hijacked Usenet
the last refuge of free speech in the world.

And of course, Google is constantly
wasting the time and resources of millions of folks
with hype such as their 10^99 scam, their space program, etc.

Not to mention that Google is working hard
to force everyone to put all of their information
on the net, rather than keep it on their own computer.

And of course, Google ripped off Unix,
renamed it Android, got thousands of dupes
to contribute under the impression that it was "open source",
and then maintained a tight control of it.

Google seems to be the real life expression of the pig men
in the science fiction story: "How to serve man",

or more accurately
like a pervert that gives kids candy
to get them on board.

I outlined the reasons that Scirus is superior to Google
for SERIOUS searching,

but if anyone wants quantity,
rather than quality,

and wants to be bombarded with ads
and "cooked" search hits,

No only are you defensive about Scirus, but you obviously have
a bias against Google. After all they did ban your postings to
"google groups" due to your bigotry. Just an observation.

began to deteriorate, and as the Google Gang
was not satisfied with censoring, banning, and
"cooking the books" on Web and Usenet searches,

they are making an effort to kill Usenet,
the last refuge of free speech on the Internet,

by setting up the unnecessary "Google Groups"
that is just a Google controlled clone of Usenet.

It does not take a system engineer to comprehend
that the Gang at Google are more like perverts
that give children candy,
than they are a company that "Does no evil."

Fortunately, the peoples of the world are wising up
to the Gang at Google.

China, the world's biggest
Internet market would not allow them to profit
from illegal drugs and pornography,
so the Gang sulked away, and as can be seen,
Google is being investigated and fined in
America and Europe for many violations of the law,
including a $500,000,000.00 fine in America
for pushing illegal drugs.

After ripping off Unix, and conning thousands of
computer programmers into DONATING their time and skills
to morph UNIX into an OPEN SOURCE <sic> operating system,
Google double crossed them and CONTROL Android
and make it out to be a Google thing.

It appears that Google's deceit and greed has caught
up with them in this case, as they had to spend out billions
of dollars to buy Motorola so they could cherry pick
some patents to intimidate the people who are suing them
for ripping off Unix.

As can be seen from the news, Google recently
did a two for one stock split. I suggest that
this is an effort by the Gang to begin to
unload Google stock, while maintaining control,
and anyone who has Google stock
should keep a close eye on what is happening.

and for calling attention to Google's use of bigotry.
