If you accept that matter and space interact as GR tells us then
here's a thought experiment for you. Imagine a solitary, self
gravitating, non-rotating body beyond any outside gravitational
influence. GR says spacetime is curved in a way that creates a
gravitational field. Now consider that body to be in motion. What is
the relationship between the gravitational field in the direction of
motion relative to all other directions? Is it unreasonable to assume
that it must be affected by the motion of the object? What is the
effect on the energy/momentum tensor?
