Interesting factoid. . .
The cargo hold of the C-5 is longer than the entire first flight of the
Wright Brothers' plane at Kitty Hawk.
Cool, huh?

So is the wingspan of every version of B747.

Sure is something to think about.
Next time someone talks about all the problems that some `product' is
having in its early tests, remind him of this.

Yeah. I went to an airshow at Stewart AFB in upstate NY a few
yrs ago. They fly the C5A out of Stewart, and as you walked through the
aircraft, as you entered, there was a placard that said something like:
"Imagine that the Wright Brother's plane from Kitty Hawk left the ground
here." Well before you exited the ship, you found another placard that
gave the specs on the ship, and ended with something like, "And by
the way, the Wright brother's aircraft would have touched down here."
Chris
Another one: the unusable dead space in the tail of a C-5A is larger
than the entire cargo volume of a C-130.
BTW, I got that from the Air & Space article about the C-5 a few years
back. I assume the original post about the fuselage being longer than the
Wright brothers' first flight came from there too.
