[note: Despite the whining of alt.war.vietnam's Crybaby Vets who
continue believing old U.S. propaganda lies, Vietnam has been open
since mid 1980s, gets millions of foreign tourists every year who
can freely go most anywhere and freely talk to Vietnam's people]

Scrooges ghosts arrive in Viet Nam
Nov 24, 2009

HA NOI A six-actor troupe from the UKs TNT Theatre will kick off a
performance tour through Viet Nam today in the central province of
Binh Dinh.

The artists will perform the classic play A Christmas Carol by
Charles Dickens to entertain local audiences in celebration of
Christmas 2009 and New Years 2010.

A Christmas Carol (originally, A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a
Ghost Story of Christmas) is a short story by English author Charles
Dickens (1812-1870) about a miserly curmudgeon, Scrooge, and his
secular conversion and redemption after being visited by four ghosts
on Christmas Eve. The tale has been viewed by critics as an
indictment of nineteenth century industrial capitalism.

"We can take you down the alleys that Dickens travelled, through a
London that defined modern life because it was the first megalopolis,
an urban nightmare where the very air was unfit to breathe," said
director Paul Stebbings.

Scrooge, the main character, will be played by David Nasir Ahmad. The
other five actors will play multiple roles including the parts of the
ghosts and other supporting roles. The play was produced by Grantly
Marshall.

It is common in Europe for one actor to play different characters in
a play, according to Marshall, who is on his second trip to Viet Nam.

"Music will play a key role in the production, as it will help drive
the story, not only accompany the performance," said accordionist
Sara Marie Ciantar. All of the music and songs will be performed live
with the staging.

The play will be performed in English with Vietnamese subtitles on
two screens. Performances will be staged in HCM City from November 25
to 29 with five shows at the city Drama Theatre, 30 Tran Hung Dao
Street, District 1.

Hue and Da Nang will have performances on December 1 and 2 at the Hue
Culture House and Trung Vuong Theatre.

In Ha Noi performances will be held on December 3; 4 and 5 at the Ha
Noi Opera House. For more information please visit to

The Phony PhD is just a troll. Killfile him at once. He did claim in a post
(before I did killfile the idiot) that he was an SVR agent (Russia's Foreign
Intelligence Service). If so, the Russians ought to demand their money back.

And you guys really think it's progress for Charles Dickens to have
a script running in Bin Dinh. This pablum is for tourists and the
tourist
dollar. Try to find a presentation on Buddha. Don't hold your breath
because all Commies fear Buddha knowledge, including the Chinese.

Don't waste your time with Q****. Just know the only reason he stays
alive in this world is the people he puts down, who protect him.

huh?...You think U.S. military in Iraq is necessary to protect me?

You *must* lie to yourself to believe that shit, son. This type of
lying (to yourself) is a characteristic of you dim-witted true-believers.
