No son (you missed it so it's my turn), I'm not the one who brought up
the crimes against the Jews, you are.

Now you get it rammed down your throat.

So get your friends to stop shooting at Jews.

In my experience Jews prefer to do deals.

But when the only deal offered is "die quietly, except for the pretty

Good old Ray, always so certain, always wrong.

I quote from the source I gave:

"Husseini intervened on May 13, 1943, with the German Foreign Office to
block possible transfers of Jews from Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania,
after reports reached him that 4,000 Jewish children accompanied by 500
adults had managed to reach Palestine. He asked that the Foreign
Minister "to do his utmost" to block all such proposals and this request
was complied with."

Yes, it was centuries of European (not just German) crimes against the Jews
culminating in the Europeans and U.S. agreeing to create Jewish Isreal in
Palestine, thus forcing the Palestinians to pay for European crimes.

You don't disagree with any of that, do you son?

Oh I most certainly do.

The European criminals who could be caught were punished.

A homeland for the Jews in the Middle East was promised by the mandated
power prior to the Holocaust. The USA had little to do with it at the time.

The Palestinian Arab leadership was certainly complicit in the murder of
European Jewry in WWII.

And now one for you to mull over. About 70% of what is now Israel and
the West Bank was never anyone's land. It was held as governmental
holdings by the Turkish government and handed over to the Allies in 1918.

Nobody owned it.

That you pretty obviously didn't know this just proves how ignorant you
really are.

Now I appreciate that you're not terribly bright but I really do think
you should try and read a book now and then.

In this particular case I recommend 'The Balfour Declaration: The
Origins of the Arab-Israeli Conflict' by Jonathan Schneer which details
the highly duplicitous actions taken by the British to get everyone on
their side, and their subsequent betrayal of everyone involved...

Yes, they were expelled by the Romans. Their government was gone
for 18 centuries...they lost any claim to the land, unless you
want to assert all defeated people may re-start ancient wars and
start killing with justification. i.e. no war ever ends.

> No mention of Palestine anywhere.

The land has long been called Palestine, even by the Jews, and most
every map before 1918 shows the land as Palestine.

After WW2 Americans had much sympathy and empathy for the Jews, so there
was strong support to create Jewish Israel, Palestinian people be damned.

and why oh why are we Americans propping up a religious government?

The big mess was certainly foreseeable...but we were arrogant as usual.

The Jews were never expelled from the area by the Romans. They are
still there. Certainly many Jews emigrated as did other ethnic groups
from the area.

Using your logic there was no Palestinian government either. They
were occupied by the Turks, then British. At no time before the State
of Israel was there a state of Palestine run by a Palestinian government.

The people defined as Palestinian haven't been in the area as long
as the Jews.

Perhaps you should look at how non-Jews are treated in Israel. Then
take a look at how Jews and Christians are treated in Gaza and West
Bank. The government of Israel is a lot less religious than you imply.

Now then, can you provide a link to Coldine's catalog online?

In 1920, the French created the name for the Palestine Area
comprising of the Palestinian lands and the Israeli Lands. the
name goes back to at least 450BC as Palaistinę. Or English
spelling of Palaestina.

The Majority of the Populance of Palaestina was Jewish during
that time period. When the Byzantines took over (after the Roman
Empire Split) for the next 1000 years, Paliestina did not exist
anymore. It went by many other names.

Funny, under the Calaphea, Jews and Arabs (sorry, but the Muslim
religion was not established until sometime in the late 6th
century. Muhammad was born in 570 AD. He was 40 when he came to
a revelation or some would say, A Revelation of God if you are
Muslim or Islamic. That means the Muslim Religion was formed
after 610 AD making it the 7th century. ) The Jews and the
Calaphea lived in complete harmony including when the Calaphea
controlled most of Spain as well. They came from the same basic
bloodlines and thought of each other as brothers.

I wonder how much of this strife was a creation by the Catholic
and Protestants when they kicked the Muslims out of Spain. How
much of it was financially driven during the Spanish Inquisition
during the 11th century.

The Proper Name was Syria Palaestina created by the Romans in
135AD running until 390AD.

Palistinia was predominated by the Jews, not the Muslims. During
the time period it existed it was ended by the Byzantine Empire,
the Muslim religion did not exist. Mohammed wasn't born until
570 AD and the religion was not formed until after 610 AD. By
that time, the Palistania Region was under entirely different
names.

It was formed by the French as Syria Palistina in 1920. It
encompassed all of the current Israel and Palestine lands. That
name came from the time when it was predominately Jewish
Population of a much earlier time.

How do I say this, when there was a Palistinia, there were no
Muslims. Mohammed wasn't born yet and wouldn't be for a couple
of hundred years.

No more than the other Governments that prop up Islam. If you

condemn the other. Or you can accept both.

No, it was run by Jewish People AND their Arab brothers. The
Muslim religion didn't happen until after 610 AD.

>

They have been there all along. Just not as known as
Palestinians. They were knows as Arabs and that goes way back
just like the Jews do as well.

Here we part company. In Israel, you have Jews AND Arabs. The
Jews have full rights but the Arabs don't have the same
unfettered rights. If the Government were to restrict the
travels of a Jew then it would be hob to pay. But the Arabs are
sometimes restricted. Even though Arabs are supposed to be fully
equal, when was the last time you saw Arabs in the Israeli
Federal Government?

Both sides have a lot of growing to do before the problems can be
back burnered. And Both Sides need to find compromise to get to
that point.

The forces of Ferdinand and Isabella finished off the Nasrids in Granada in

Son, why do you find it necessary to lie?

"The Jewish state comes to an end in 70 AD, when the Romans begin to
actively drive Jews from the home they had lived in for over a millennium."
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Diaspora.html

"The Jewish diaspora (or simply the Diaspora) is the English term used
to describe the Galut גלות (Yiddish: 'Golus'), or 'exile', of the Jews
from the region of the Kingdom of Judah and Roman Iudaea and later
emigration from wider Eretz Israel."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_diaspora

The Jewish government was gone for over 18 centuries (70AD to 1948).

True, some remnants of Jews lived there but the Jews were very effectively expelled.

What do you want to lie about now, son?

I won't let you draw me into an irrelevant issue...but no the Palestinians
were not involved in the killing of Jews...but the Palestinians did want
to stop the uncontrolled immigration of Jews to Palestine.

This is the type of tit-for-tat crap that you supporter of Jewish Israel
engage in...any minutia to "justify" your war. I can find many Americans
who supported Nazis, but that does not make the U.S. complicit in killing
of Jews.

True, and reasonable.

After all they'd just thrown out the Turks, well, the British did.

I don't need to justify a war. Anyone who shoots at me and mine is fair
game.

Anyone who says that all Jews are a klegitimate target musty expect to
become a legitimate target themselves.

I'm a reasonable man. Leave me alone and nothing will happen. Start

By the time the first Aliyah started (1870?) something like 90000 Jews

Interesting! If Israel was gone for 18 centuries and got resurrected
with its own military power, why not resurrect all old nations of
Inca, Mayan, Cham, Hoppi, Cherokee, Cheyene, Persia, Roman, as
independent nations with their own military power and defend them

Certainly enough for the crusaders to have a massacre or two.

It's so unlike you to miss an opportunity to be nasty about European

The Roman expulsion of the Jews had the intended effect, namely
that the Jews were no longer in power and were small enough in
numbers that they were no threat to power.

<quote>
Contrary to some popular misconceptions Jews have continuously lived
in the Middle East for more than 4000 years.

Often Jew and Arab joined in fighting the common invader - Christian
crusaders, Turks, etc. Indeed co-operation was more the norm than
otherwise.

Prior to the 1860's-the small, religiously oriented Jewish population
in the region numbered around 75000 souls. They were concentrated
within the major urban areas of the period - Jerusalem, Safed, Hebron
and Tiberias.

Palestinian population at the time is estimated at around 180 - 195
thousand. Depending where you draw the boundaries of Palestine.

Wrong.

I can tell when you're getting worried, the 'son' thing stops...

I notice you preface the name of your source by the word 'Jew'.

I wonder why?

It's usually a trick only ever used by Fascists and you're certainly not
one of those.

Perhaps it's an attempt to make your source seem more reliable but you
really don't understand how Jewish politics worked with respect to
Zionism at that point.

Of course we all know about your deep and abiding ignorance of history,
but it is becoming unbelievable.

That someone not in possession of the basic facts is trying to debate
this subject is laughable. It also proves my point that you're not

The Israeli presence is Palestine is simply a fact.

Henry II: The Aquitaine is mine!

Phillip II: By what authority?

Henry II: It's got my troops all over it. That makes it mine.

"The Lion in Winter" (1966.) Goldman, J. ... who, as I'm sure Vinney
will point out, is (or was, depending on your perspective, he died
about 10 years ago) a Jew.

It is also a fact that the Israelis are ultimately going to have to
make some concessions to the other people living in the region. The
non-Semitic occupants of the land cannot be forced out simply because
of their religious beliefs... or, at least, that's the Western school
of thought.

Correct.

Every major European country at some point has expelled the Jews. Some multiple times.

England
France
Spain
Germany
Hungary
Italy
Greece
Sweden
...

After WW2 Europe and U.S. created Jewish Israel. Non-Jew Palestinians were ignored.

Neither decision created Israel. Opinions favourable to the existance
of a Jewish homeland were expressed by certain countries and
organizations at varioius times and for various reasons. That's all.
No action was taken by the UK or the League to create a Jewish State.
None at all.

Israel was proclaimed, within hours of Britain's withdrawal, by men on
the ground, fighting, gaining territory, defeating enemy armies and
holding their ground Then it was recognized by the US and USSR. Within
minutes.

I think you may find that Jews with guns created Israel.

The only European power with any say in the matter was the UK, and the
Jews defeated them in a war and drove them out.

By 1947 the Arab resistance to the British had gone. Their leadership
was in exile or in hiding and utterly discredited with everyone.

The bulk of the Jewish military leadership had British military
experience and training and, unlike the British, had a cause to fight
for.

The 'early' post war British army was a pretty dreadful institution made
up of old regular officers who didn't leave at the end of the war (there
were no regular commissions granted in WWII)and conscripts who didn't
want to fight, had no combat experience, and certainly didn't want to
stop the Jews getting a homeland.

I thought the propaganda line was that G-d created Israel for
Jews forever and all non-Jews are merely squatters.

anyway...the UN (controlled by U.S. and Europe) partitioned, and
then, as fully expected, the Jews declared an independent Jewish state.

Non-Jews in the land and all governments in surrounding countries were
ignored, including proposals for *fair* democracies (found at U.N. website).

so Palestinians have been made to pay for European crimes against Jews.

Nope.

That you think so just points out your anti-Semitism.

> anyway...the UN (controlled by U.S. and Europe) partitioned, and

No.

You know for a professor of history you're remarkably ill informed.

The British withdrew under fire before the mandate expired and left the
people there to shoot it out amongst themselves.

Despite being invaded by a number of Arab states, the Jews won.

The British did attempt to arm the Arabs, but they seem to have come
unglued somehow.

The surrounding countries were certainly not ignored.

All of them invaded.

Ignoring that would have been a disaster.

Hmmmm?
Wasn't the Grand Mufti, or the Grand Pooh-Bah of that region rather in
the hip pocket of Hitler?
I seem to remember that Jews had been in the area for a "little while"
prior to the 19th-century.
Also, several of the many "absentee-landlords" who helped keep down the
native populace, sold much property to Jews who then engaged in
agriculture.
FINALLY. with the land partitioned, Israel declared it's existence and
apparently you neglected to mention what then happened, how many of those
nations then attacked that country --- and that many of the "religious
leaders" believe and declare that the "PROTOCALS" created by the Czars
secret police is true and that many in those countries believe that they
must kill all Jews and decimate Israel...

Lie (you've been dying to use the usual anti-Semite card).

The "partition" was lines drawn on a map. These lines created nothing.
The British left and well-prepared Jewish fighters fought to gain and
hold on to territory that became the State of Israel. Jordan and
Egypt, states that already existed, moved in and took over some of
Mandate Palestine. Jewish fighters got the bulk of it.
