1. Programming and Learning Information for Java and Solaris.

From Sun Microsystems I have recieved a new learning solution packet.
The packet contains a complete course development series relating to
Java technology, Sun Development Solution, XML and Web Publishing,
iPlanet and Sun E-Business Solutions, Telecommuncations Research
Associates, Solaris Operating Environments, Networking and Security,
Server and Storage, Hardware Systems, and StarOffice Software. There are
9 different types of certification that can be gain.

One positive benefit of Sun books is that they provide a complete and
easy to learn ways on how to use Java. Also, the books use the approach
that most of us have come to Java from other languages. This results in
being able to scan or read in detail about any aspect of Java technology
and applying it. In addition, the Sun Java books provide interaction
with web designs as HTML and SOAP.

I am partial to Java because it does correct the complexity of c and
c++. Namely, reducing the number of pointer references which makes it
easier to develop programs. Also, what I like about Java is that to
setup a GUI application, the UI, user interface, setup is easier than
using other languages.

One topic that I think that skill needs to be discussed is how a Java
application issues a certificate so that it can do file based processing
in a browser as Netscape. The reason this is important is that when the
software development process is completed, most developers would rather
distribute the application so that it can run from a user's browser, as
it is easier for the user to run.

One important aspect that I look for is the minimum system requirements
to use a SDK, software development kit. The use of an auto lookup for a
class is a big help as with JBuilder. Also, a printed hard copy book
which can be referenced in certain situations. The reason for the
importance of the minimum system requirements, is to see what is the
greater possible dispersion.
Overall, I recommend Java as the GUI development system to start with.
Some of the things I did to compare Java to other languages was to see
what is needed to convert various college level program assignments over
to Java from a legacy based development system. With Java, it is easier
to do. I am testing other langauges to see how they compare. My newest
project has been to see what handheld systems as HP and others can run
Java programs from Netscape or via the JVM, Java virtual machine. The
advantage of JVM mode is that an application can perform file i/o
relating to business and analytical areas without having to issue a
certificate. ( Which is most intuitive to developers ).

-------------------------------------

2. UML - State based approach to development.

UML, Universal Modelling Language, is the newest form of application
development. The UML replaces the flow chart as the common diagram to
explaining what a pro gram does. The basis of a UML is:

|================
|<Class Name>
|================
| start() :: void 1. procedure description
| process(): classRec 2. function description
| String data 3. a variable description
| Myclass1 data2 4. a record description
|================

Then, from each class, a new class is started base upon a state action
as either 1) mouse button is pressed, 2) a certain data item is entered,
or 3) a certain button is pressed.

The difference betwen state based development versus the flow chart
based development can be seen in comparing two program outlines, this
first one written in the old flow chart method:

I. Display the program name, author, and copyright to user.
II. Display the basis of the program to the user
A. Have the user enter their name
B. Print a greeting using the user's name.
III. Ask the user for their name.
IV. Get the user's name from standard input.
V. Print a greeting using the user's name.

Nows, let us compare the same program using a UML based outline.
Class UI
I. Start up
A. Initiatize the program, author, and copyright labels.
B. Initialize the output area, a TextArea.
C. Initialize the input area, a TextField.
D. Initialize the button, ENTER.
E. Set State to 10.
F. Display the basis of the program in the output area.
II. Action when ENTER button is clicked.
A. If State=10
1. Display information to the user to enter their name.
2. Set next State to 20.
3. Goto step II.E.
B. If State=20
1. Obtain the user name from the input area.
2. Display a greeting using the user's name.
3. Set next State to 30.
4. Goto step II.E.
C. If State=30
1. Display the program's ending information.
2. Execute a program cloture.
D. If State not in 10, 20, or 30
1. Return FALSE to the calling program.
E. Return TRUE to the calling program.

In the UML description, the function "action" has multiple state
transitions with state 30 heading to the exit state. Also, a series of
steps becomes a series of states in which each state specifies the next
state to be processed. The difference in developing an application is
that one needs to to think about what each state does and how it
transitions.

The advantage of UML is that it is a common motif that is applicatable
to many types of langauges of Java and SOAP. The disadvantage of UML is
that when converting legacy based flowcharts or outlines, one needs to
define where each state starts and stops. In the Harvard Business
Review, there was an article discussing managing the new software
development process from a COO viewpoint. The conclusion was that the
COO realized why new applications avoid supporing legacy aspects in that
it makes it easier to develop the new application.

One concept that UML reminds me if when my father used to develop
programs on an IBM 403. The IBM 403 was a "wired" based computer where
one would write code by stringing wire from different parts of a board.
Also, on the board, a certain data wire was accessed when the board was
in a certain state ( 0, 1, 2, etc. ). It reminds me of UML in that each
class instance is accessed based on a certain state.
The UML is used to present the front end of an application along with
procedure and function interaction. The, the inner detail was use a
convential flowchart, or conven tional outline in addition to a UML
description.

-------------------------------------

3. XP - Extreme Programming, Two person development teams.

One of the newest, old practices, being revived is the extreme
programming approach. The extreme programming approach is based upon two
programmers who work togeth er on the same section of code. Before the
advent of compilers, the practice of having two people work together in
code development was needed due to the tedium and error prone nature of
machine coding and hand assembly of the 1950's to late 1960's. ( The
software development crisis as it was called then )

In extreme programming, there is a 10 point mantra that is followed
regarding practices. The main basis of the mantra is to eliminate the
effect of the master, lone programmer. It is felt that if two people
work on the same section of code, their is a greater team atmosphere.

Some problems with the assumption of two team members, in fields of
special investigations as the FBI, MI 5, MI 6, NSA, and CIA -- the two
members are matched according to various profiles in addition to skills.
The result of the matching causes the two person team to be more
effective than a one mastermind. However, in programming, most
programmers are only assigned by skill. And, in my case of the late
1980's, normally one person does the majority of the coding, and the
other ends up running interference with micro managers. Or, the dominant
member takes credit for the work of the less dominant member.

When I have worked with teams where each of us has different skills, and
we have complimented each other, the two team asumption does work. One
of the reasons is that neither has to prove their skill to another, and
usually I prefer to work in a mixed gender team. For me, it is easier to
share, relax, and concentrate on solving the problem together.

Lastly, the goal of extreme programming is try to reduce the error rate
in coding by having a second person present during the whole process.
The other part of extreme programming uses the sequential development
model of sub goals where each part of the application is tested at
various levels and test. The result of this approach is that confidence
increases, and the group starts with a unit / class based development.
-----------------------------------------------

4. Key Facts of User Actiated Connectivity: Floppy Disk connectivity (
BBS )

I would like to discuss the Key Facts of User Activated connectivity. At
one University in Canada, there is an experiment where about 20
participants are each connected to each other. Everything they see,
hear, or say is recorded on a computer network and transmitted to other
participants. In the SF world, this is similar to the approach used by a
cyborg race.

When I think of connectivity on this scale, at first it seems nice to be
able to play with the new toys. However, the longer one has used the
internet, the more important is it to keep some parts of yourself
private. Also, prior to common government knowledge, many casual
internet users have already learned how to have multiple "pen" internet
identities. Some of the earliest reasons was to keep their friends email
separate from their organizational email. Also, as background checks
have increased, others have learned the value of having at least 4
internet identities.

Thus, I would like to see what the reports are of the participants in
regards to the percentage data they transmit to each other, and the
percentage data that is private. I would think that the percentage data
transmitted is not over 95%. In life, there are some activities that
everyone does not wish to see or hear of others. And, I am wondering
when the effect of "white noise" to each individuals neural processing
will start. "White noise" is when an individual recieves sensory
information, but lets it pass without additional procesing or action.

=== Floppy Disk Connectivity ===

I would like to share the key facts of Floppy disk connectivity. Even,
when BBS or internet links are tapped, the most common connectivity is
the floppy disk. Even though, the floppy disk can only hold 1.44 MB (US)
or 2.0 MB (Japan), with compression and using a layered encryption
scheme, large amounts of data can be send as well as programs. Also, the
nice thing about the floppy with modern and even old style operating
systems, there are many ways to "mount", read a floppy on many sys tems.
For example, are you aware tht Linux can mount over 40 types of floppy
formats.

Another advantage of floppy connectivity is that it almost like the
miniture film in camera models A, B, and C ( electric shutter) up to the
1980's. The advantage of the 1/2 inch film cartridge was that it could
easily be transported from one person to another. The same with the
floppy, that it can be transferred from one person to another without
having an internet trace record.

A third advantage of floppy based connectivity is that one can use a
computer A for internet communications and computer B for software
development. If computer A should be infected by an internet virus or
worm, sensitive information is not compromised since computer B only
shares data via a floppy. A second form of securi ty measure is that
when testing a program, is to physically disconnect the network wire or
phone wire. In the early 90's, I used to do this when testing new
software or working on new software as part of this was mandated by the
mainframe management that existed, they did not wish to resolve cross
computer errors. It was a policy made for the wrong basis, and worked
for the right reasons.

In considering security, sometimes a loosely couple, non connected link
of some components is best.

-----------------------------------

5. Thoughts on the 1980's-1990's and Now, Part 2.
( An Occasional Series )

In one professional article, there was a prediction that the next
dot-com and computer business activity would not come until 10 or 15
years from now. One reason, I believe, for this is, when comparing the
period of 1975 to 1993, that a new generation needs to go through the
video game phase -> hobbyist phase -> inital business use phase,
simulation / scientific use phase -> casual use / artistic use phase ->
mba corporate use phase.

One feature that is different today, than from the early 1990's, is how
information is distributed. Up to the early 1990's, it was common for a
professional magazine to cover different areas of user comments,
tutorials on programming, new ideas in programming, hardware users
comments, and hardware projects. Today, the above five topics are
usually reproduced in three to five magazines as opposed to one big
magazine. The result of which is a 3 to 5x educational literature
expenditure. Also, most people normally follow only up to 2 print media
journals as newspapers or computer magazines. Thus, the three to five
magazine model as compared to a one magazine model causes one not to be
well rounded as previous generations were in computers. The well rounded
approach is what led to the rapid developments of 1975 to the early
1990's.

A second feature is the one of security. Up to the early 1990's,
cryptography and self replicating programs were part of the computer
education curricullum. With the current mode of security, some of these
concept may not be taught, or limited in teaching. However, these
concepts are needed because certain advanced, programming methods are
used in cryptography and self replication.

A third area that needs to defined clearly is what is a hacker and what
is a cyberpunk. The two terms are completely different. A hacker is one
who designs programs, sometimes outside of class assignments, to test
new ideas ( as ideas in AI, thinking, cognition). A cyberpunk is a
programmer engaged in criminal activity. Based on the conservatism now
present, if a student should perform programming outside of their class
assignments, to learn more about application development, they may be
labelled a hacker with the implication of a cyberpunk. In the early
1970's, some innnovators in the computer revolution did programming
outside of class assignments, the result of which is that they were
labelled hackers and their degrees held back, until the philosophy and
policy that was used was found incorrect. What I am concerned with, is
that we do not return to this conservative period of the early 70's if
someone wishes to try new programming, due to the heighten awareness of
homeland security.

In the mid 90's, it was common for people to talk with others on the
internet without the stigma that is attached today. Due to changes in
society, it is neccesary to be careful on the internet. In trying to
make the internet safe or in trying to limit what one can access, we
need to be careful that we do not go so far as to make the internet
limited. The advantage of the internet is that all option and comments
can be posted, similar to the philosophy of a Jeffersonian society which
is important to always maintain if we wish to maintain freedom and the
Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Lastly, we need to get back to professional management discussions that
are not dictated by politics or faith based limitations. There is a
place for both, but the U.S. is not a secular country so we need to work
on a management policy that is open and can be modified for use in
secular countries while maintaining the principles of the policy.

[ Synopsis: Sydney reads a paper from a friend of hers regarding changes
in one neural processing over time. Her friend used VR on a different
level. Sydney wonders what if the hue, tint of a flower affects how
one's vr is perceived by her?
Sydney starts to study various web pages devoted to are. She finds one,
and the person is teaching a class at a local university. There are two
sections, one is art 200 and other is art 200 PC. There are more times
available in art 200 PC.
She enrolls in both classes. She uses a technique to alter her
appearance and mannerisms. What does she discover? Who is the
man sketching her? What is his vr like?
]

[ Sydney's Apartment ]

Sydney receive a letter from a friend of hers. They met at a conference
in the Western US two times. He lives in the Midwest. They talk
virtually by e-mail. Looking at the letter, Sydney notices it is pretty
thick. She opens the letter, and reads the handwritten letter:

"Dear Sydney,

I would like to show you my newest paper. The paper talks about how
one's neural processing changes from year to year. Also, the paper shows
a quantitative method to measure the changes using my system. Also, I
have enclosed charts from my talk.
I was wondering what do you think? Also, this might be something to add
to your system.
When you are in ..., I would be happy to see you.

Your Friend,

", wrote David.

Sydney noticed how the note was hand written with care. Also, that
David likes to add flourishes to his writing.

Later that night, Sydney decides to look at the paper and the notes.
The results are something that way beyond the sixth generation. Also,
she is happy to have a kindred spirit to talk and work with.
Sydney reads her e-mail and browses some web pages. She sees one to
many trademark symbols of one company, and decides to get off this
tourist trap. She starts to look at web sites that are non aligned. In a
way, non aligned used to refer to a different matter. Now, the word non
aligned has entered the internet and microcomputer world.
On one of the non aligned sites, she comes across a university
experimenting with putting the art gallery on-line. Someone developed a
new process to maintain the best look and texture of a painting, and the
person shared the program with the university. Also, a simulation of the
mind energy is reproduced in the image as well of the original artist.
As she downloads a few files, they are in a different format. Later,
she notices the person's page has a listing of an art class that he
teaches.

Sydney looks at the file format, none of her program can decipher the
image. While shuffling things around, a disk is found in the letter. She
puts the disk on her computer.
The disk is from David, it's a version of a new program. David sends
Sydney programs from time to time. Sydney runs the program, and notices
it works the files she downloaded.
She starts her computer in VR. Then, she runs the program. Next, she
puts on her gloves and eye goggles. When she loads the image,... Wow!
What a great experience.
When Sydney viewed a Renaissance painting, she saw the texture of the
strokes. She felt the spectrum of color and the expression of the
artist. Also, at one point, she felt the emotions of the person who was
being painted. Wink. Sydney sees herself sitting in a chair wearing a
flowing gown. The sleeves are not fully to the elbow and ruffled. The
gown is silk and beautifully expresses her femininity. It is a gown of a
princess being painted by her prince.
Next, she viewed a painting from about 15 years ago. In this painting,
she felt the emotions of opposites, no middle ground. In the painting,
there was color, but it was as if someone had substituted two colors for
black and white. The emotions she felt as the object of the painted were
two. Standing, she was an independent woman painted by a man who loved
her. She was wearing a sensual unitard, catsuit, that showed all of
curves and beauty. But, on the canvas, was a woman whose clothing was
chosen by pc. A contradiction. The woman she wanted to be could only be
expressed by her to her boyfriend. And, outside, in public, a second
expression had to be followed.
Next, she viewed the caption for the Art 200 course web page:

"This course is for everyone interested in the beauty of nature and
humankind. You do not have to have a major to take this course. I will
teach all that is needed to express and enjoy nature and humankind,"
wrote the artist browser.

Then, she viewed the caption for the Art 200 PC course on another web
page:

"This course is for everyone interested in the beauty of nature and
humankind. You do not have to have a major to take this course. I will
teach all that is needed to express and enjoy nature and humankind,"
wrote on another browser.

Sydney wondered why there were two pages for the same course. Also,
this web page was different in some way. So, Sydney decided to register
to both courses.

[At the College]

The first course was the Art 200. At the first lecture, the instructor
explained the basis of art, and he gave some hand out sheets on tint and
hue. In the middle of the lecture, he gave a history of artistic
development from the ancient Greek civilization to present. In the last
part of the lecture, there were 4 projects to be done.
The projects scheduled were line drawing using various tools. The
second project was usage of shapes and space. The third project was
making a color triad. Finally, the fourth project was live drawing and
painting (2 sets).
Sydney looked around the class, everyone was happy and very creative.
Also, they were friendly and smiled.

The second course was the art 200 PC course. Sydney changed her outfit
and appearance. At the first course, she dressed in an art coed kind of
way. In this course, she put on mini and put her hair up for the first
course.
When she entered the lecture hall, the students seemed a bit uptight.
Also, she was being pointed at. An older student approached, "isn't that
outfit a little out of place here?"
Sydney thought before answering. She looked around. Most of the other
coed were wearing old style dresses, no fashion at all. Sydney sat at
the back of the lecture hall, since the class was about to start.
"I would like to welcome everyone to Art 200. This class will meet the
cultural requirement of the university. Also, all art showings are
approved by the art committee and the art congress," said the professor.

The professor went on to describe the projects for the course. The
first project was a pictorial lecture on line drawing. The second
project was the proper usage of shapes and space. The third project was
making a triad with three colors selected by the art committee and art
congress. The fourth lecture was on acceptable art.
Sydney, wondered why the professor used the same course number?

[ Sydney's apartment ]

Sydney studied the handouts for the art 200 course. They talked about
the basis of light, the ROY G BIV spectrum (Red orange yellow green blue
indigo and violent). Also, some common design motifs using the spectrum.

For the art 200 pc, it was more rote and recite. There examples of good
colors and bad colors. Based on the class, all she had to do was to
remember the included middle.
Also, Sydney figured the pc fashion scheme so she would fit in. In
short, it was to wear clothes only approved by the committee of dress.
Sydney like the first class better. In the first class, they learned
about art by doing. In the second class, all the decisions were made for
them as to what it art. The committee decided what is pc and learnable.

[ Second class - art 200 free thought ]

"Hi, I'm Jenny."
"Hi, I'm Sydney."
"Do you think the line drawing is going to tough?"
"Well, I think it might. Also, I think it is going to be fun too. I
like participating. For me, this is the best way for me to learn."
"I agree, let's head in."

Sydney and Jenny entered the art studio. Both of them enjoyed learning
a new thing. Also, they enjoyed being able to express their creativity
and individuality. Later, two guys joined them for the rest of the
class.
One of the guys showed Sydney, a sketch he had made of her at the first
class. It was flattering and showed the sensual parts he liked about
her. Also, it showed her, her individuality and aura. The picture was
shown to Jenny and her new boyfriend, they both blushed and smiled.

The line drawing part of the class involved using pencils, string, and
brush to draw an object. Then, the students were asked to do the same
thing with the pencils, brush, and string attached to a yard, meter,
stick with their arms outstretched. Next, they used the pencils, brush,
and string to draw with both feet.
When all four images were compared, dominant hand, non dominant hand,
feet, and distance drawings, certain modes became evident. Both
comparing the evident modes of line, one could tell if the same object
or different object was drawn. Sydney, her class boyfriend, Jenny, her
boyfriend learned the first lesson of figure and ground.

A Change of Logic
Where 2 + 2 =5
By David Kanecki

[ This is a work of fan fiction.]
[ In English and French ]

The spring/summer season had come to ----. Mulder and Scully were
thinking about where they would go on vacation. Scully also was hoping
that she and Mulder would make to their dinner date on time. The traffic
was a little heavy today.
Outside of --- Unablonde and Condor were making preparations for a
dinner party. "Ring, Ring," went the telephone. Unablonde picked up the
phone. Condor listened in the background. On the other end was a friend
and colleague of unablonde, Belinda. She had come to --- to present a
report and would like to visit. Unablonde invited Belinda to come and
stay with them while in ---.
At the airport, Belinda, was wearing a mint green spring dress and
carrying a large purse. She travelled light, two carry ons. Also, she
didn't have far to walk to catch a limo. The limo stopped at a commuter
transfer point close to where Condor and Unablonde were. At that point,
Belinda hailed a taxi and arrived at their place.
"It is wonderful to see you," said Unablonde, wearing a green-yellow
outfit. "How was your trip?"
"The trip was great. Also, I have this one report to give, and the rest
of the time is mine until the fall session. You look great," said
Belinda.
"You two look great. Belinda, why don't you join us for dinner, Fox and
Dana are coming over," said Condor. Belinda had heard of Fox in an
official capacity while working with Unablonde. The two of respected the
integrety, logic ability, and not being afraid of the conspiracy.
Tonight was a night to enjoy each other.

"Fox, I mean Mulder, could you help me for a moment," asked Dana. She
needed Fox to help zip her orange dinner outfit. It was an eye opening
outfit. Also, she wanted to show that she was Mulders significant other
eventhough they never really said. In all the acts that Mulder did, he
proved and demonstrated it day in and day out.
"Wow!," said Fox. Fox had emotions of sensuality he could not surpress.

The TV was on as Unablonde and Condor were resting before dinner...

"A decision had been made on mathematics. Today, the ----- and -----
approved a law that 2 + 2 = 5. The basis of this law is ... Based on
polls, 71% of the public support it," said the announcer.
Unablonde, Belinda, and Condor were not paying much attention to the
announcement of the news. But, to Belinda, that news item seem to
trigger something, it was on the tip of her mind.
Unablonde and Belinda set the fine China and silver- ware. The China
was a set someone from Europe had given them years earlier. As Belinda
continue to help with the dinner, the news item still flashed in her
head.
"Knock, Knock," a friendly knock, from Mulder and Scully at the door.
Condor went to answer it. "Welcome, Fox and Dana. We are glad you could
come. Fox and Dana, I would like you to meet Belinda. Belinda, this is
Fox and Dana," said Condor.
"We are pleased to meet you," said Fox. Dana came over admiring
Unablond and Belinda's dinner outfits. Also, Belinda, Unablonde, and
Dana were admiring Fox and Condor and the attention they paid to the
dinner.
Fox held the chair for Dana. Condor held the chair for Belinda and
Unablonde. The dinner started with a toast. Then, came the apetizer.
Next, came the main course. Finally, came desert.
After the dinner, all five talked and chatted. The conversation was
light. As they talked, Belinda and Fox could not stop thinking about
that news announcement. Belinda heard it on the television, and Fox
heard it on the car radio.
Fox and Belinda were not news watchers. Neither of them listened to
talk radio or the talking television discussions too much. Once in a
while, they would listen.
As they talked, Belinda told Fox and Dana, Condor and Unablonde about
her talk. Her talk was about the importance of proper decision making.
Namely, she cited some studies were certain mathematical laws were
simplified and the results of it. For example, in some areas, the value
of PI used was 22/7. Eventhough, this way make it easier for certain
groups to calculate, it is not the value used by the rest of the world.
Also, she cited other things as setting the SIN of 30 degrees to 2/5 as
opposed to square root of 2 / 2. All this was done because it was too
difficult a few major interest to accept in the country.
As Belinda talked, all four realized the importance of that new
announcement. By all universal laws of mathematics, 2 + 2 = 4, not 5.
What were they trying to do? A conspiracy had just occurred, and it was
glossed over.

At central, a small group of people were meeting. They were talking
about the vote that occurred today.
"How it being accepted," asked the leader.
"Everything is to plan, it has been glossed over. The bill is passed.,"
said one of the other four.
"Well then, what about Mr. Mulder and Mistress Scully," asked the
leader.
"So far, they have not said anything or done anything. There have been
no phone calls or files setup by them on this," said the other.
"Good, Good," said the leader.

At Unablonde and Condor's place, all five thought about what was done.
Condor, remembered past history about such things. Also, he wondered
what will happen when everyone does the math.

THE INFLECTION POINT

[
In a home, Mulder and Scully are taking a break together. Also, this is
part of their earned vacation. They are at a place outside of the
beltway.
]

[ Frontier area USA ]

[ The area is not really a frontier as absolutely to nineteenth century,
but it is a frontier relatively speaking compared to DC and Places. The
city where they are lodging has a population of about 80,000. Also, it
still has farms outside of the city. ]

Scully:

Fox, it's great being with you. What do you think Skinner will say
regarding this? You are wonderful.

[ Mulder and Scully watch the fire. Earlier in the day, they went cross
country skiing. They were about too, but Mulder like the way Scully
looked and decided to spend the afternoon together in another way. ]

Fox:

Well, it is plausible that Skinner may be told to say something about
this? But, then they would have to explain their behavior as well. I
don't think they want to do that.

Scully:

Fox, here is a marshmellow.

[ Scully feeds Mulder a marshmellow ]

[ On the way back to D.C ]

[ Scully stops in a bookstore and picks up a fashion magazine. She is
feeling flirty with Fox. Fox is at the same bookstore and picks up a

That will be $2.79 Miss. Beautiful weather for couples.

Scully:

[Handing the clerk $3.00 and getting $0.21 cents back in all new
coins.]
Yes, it is. We had a great time.

[ Scully questions why she responded spontaneously to someone.
Normally, she does not let her demeanor show. She thinks, Fox and the

Clerk:

That will be $4.65 sir.

Mulder:

Thank You and come again.

[ Scully blushes ]

Mulder:

I like to buy that for you. Your great.

[ They proceed to the next fashion sets. ]

Scully, what is that?

Scully:

Fox, it's some sort of plot. It's awful crudely drawn. It's an x-y plot
divided into two sections. Also, there is a vertical and horizontal line
at the one quarter mark...

Scully:

Condor:

The strange plot you have.

Mulder:

I don't have any strange plot?

Condor:

Mulder, I heard it over there bugging device. I tapped into their
frequency. So, remember at home you are speaking to a wide audience.

Scully:

What can we do?

Condor:

I have some friends taking care of it now. Just turn on this cell
phone whenever you get home. This light will blink if there is a bug,
and this switch will jam it.

Mulder:

I have need for a new cell phone.

Condor:

It is also a computer data terminal, just flick this switch and use 11

Lone Gunman Group:

Lets see the plot?

[ Scully shows the plot ]

It looks familar.

[ Talking to one of the member of the group ]

Get the yellow book?
Mulder:

The yellow book?

Condor:

It's a special book known to people in the field. Actually many copies
of it are dog eared. There are two of them, I prefer the first one as
the best.

Lone Gunman:

Yeah, that's it. This must of be run a newer style instru ment. Also,
the compensation was set right. Look, at the contour plot. This sample
was run on a machine with an expert setup and analysis person.

Condor:

Look, on the other side of the paper.

[ The paper was a two coated side of paper. One side was high gloss and
the other side was not.]

There is a tracing.

[ The Condor and Lone Gunman group use their image analyzers to decode
the image. They get something. Mulder uses the old fashion etching way
and they see what it is]

Lone Gunman:

Another plot similar to the other, but it has some markings.

Condor:

The person who gave you this has told the result of an experiment?
[ Looking at Scully and Mulder's Expression ]

Lone Gunman:

Mulder, Scully you had better head back. We don't want to let the
bugging group know they have been discovered.

[ Mulder and Scully drive back with the original and copies left for the
Lone Gunman and Condor ]

Condor:

Now, I know what it is. They don't know what they are doing. Reckless
fools.

Scully:
At the med site, there was a plot that looked something like that. The
circles within a circle could be a contour of something. Now, I
remember...

[ A Scully's Apartment ]

Scully:

Fox, why don't you stay here tonight? Do you have any ideas what that
second plot is?

Mulder:

[ Seeing an old textbook of Scully's in the bookcase ]

I think, I have an idea...

[ Mulder searches the book for something... He finds it.. ]

Scully, I found the plot basis. It is an inflection point func tion. Do
you know what 'Ab' means?

THE PROGRAMMED PERSON
By David Kanecki

Prior to 1975, Mulder was told by the Condor a person had more freedom.
It would take a day for someone to compile a list of items and records
on a person. Now, it only takes a few minutes. Also, Condor went on to
explain how the 6-3-5 device and program could be use for international
production planning, to bombing a certain city and provide a precise
time docket. One person was given the docket and showed a subordinate
who was impressed. Then, the truth came in...

"Mulder," did you see the old computer report, asked Scully? It was an
old computer report format with "I3,1X,I5,A10,8(I1),1X,
8(I1),1X...."
"What does it mean," thought Mulder.
"They found it, the program," said the Condor. Looking at the report,
he noticed some things that showed it was printed from a old
teletypewrite with a paper tape reader. "Mulder and Dana, this means
that they are using the program again, like I told you about before...
Remember downsizing, docket mentioned in 1991, and ...

At the 6-3-5 dual HQ's, there was some concern that someone got the
printout to Condor. Also, since the first 6-3-5 HQ was discovered, they
set up to two HQ's, one in the south and one in the north. And, there
were in the process of setting up a third HQ somewhere in a new
manufacturing area of the country.
"Sir,", said a subordinate.
"Yes, resource 881104-11, report," said the leader!
"Mulder and Sculley, sorry resources 9310001 and 9310002, have deviated
from the program."
"Run another simulation and make sure they get with the program," said
the leader.

Condor is walking with Mulder and Sculley. This helps defeat listening
devices Condor told them. "Here we go again. You would think that after
the 1995 book, they would not play these games again. Let us hope, this
time they think this thing through and eliminate the politics. The best
thing to do it not to listen to the propaganda. During the last time,
this happen, I bought a few CD's and listened to them."
Scully thought about this and agreed.
Mulder was about to say something...
"I have to go now. But, before I go, they have you classified as
resources 9310001 and 9310002 at the 6-3-5 tripple HQ'S," said the
Condor.

At the 6-3-5 main HQ...

At a dinner with Condor and Unablonde, Mulder and Scully enjoy the
evening. They have a nice dinner, modest, no power dinner here, Then,
they head over to the Condor's home and watch a video.
"Remember, the most important thing about not being used by the
6-3-5/Isim is to do thing only to your potential. You know what your
potential is. Don't let them convince you otherwise.," said the Condor.
"Also, remember to work at the right level of involvement -- too low or
too high hurts everybody. In 1990, more people were working full time
and had greater vitality and stamina. Today, more people are working
part time, and families need all members to survive. It's is harder for
families to send members to meet committments abroad."
"It's too bad that they did not think that thing through all the way
starting from 1992," said Mulder.
"The most important thing is facts, and the people have used the
internet to send facts, and bypass the games of the old guard of 1992.
The internet has allowed people a forum of where they can hear real
views -- not of propaganda," said Scully with Unablonde in agreement.
"To health, to peace and long life, to long life and pros perity, to
peace and prosperity," toasted the Condor.
"To health, to peace and long life, to long life and pros perity, to
peace and prosperity ", said Mulder, Scully, and Unablonde.
In a noticeable position, sat a book with a white cover, with a word in
large type "Retrospect". What is the committment, is like after WWII, 50
years in one part of the world - 100% involvement. Or it is 10%, 20%,
30% involvement? Is it for the long term or is this another quick fix?

The year that Condor and Unablonde, and Mulder and Scully had this
dinner is 2005. This is their retrospection of the 1990's.
