How depressing! (Scrapped Carriers)

I just learned today that every carrier that my father served on (Shangri-La
CV-38, Coral Sea CVB-43, and Valley Forge CV-45) has been scrapped. I was
hoping at least one was still active, with the long time the Navy operates
carriers, or turned into a museum, but no. Dang, it would have been
wonderful to walk the same decks he had.

Well, Shangri-La and Valley Forge were Essex-class shps, and four of that class
were preserved:

Intrepid in New York Harbor
Yorktown in Patriot's Point, South Carolina
Lexington in Corpus Christi, Texas
Hornet in Alameda, California

Coral Sea was a Midway-class, and the Midway herself is being converted to a
museum in San Diego, California.

Served on board the USS Lexington-CVA-16 and the USS Franklin D.
Roosevelt-CVA-42
The "Rosie" was removed from service in 1977 and later scrapped. I served in
the Navy from March 60 to December 63 - A Kiddy Cruiser!
Love the Navy.

Toured this that one both with my father and without. Much more interesting
with him.

But on my time alone I did get to tell people wondering why a escalator
wasn't running that it meant originally for pilots loaded down with gear.
Something my father shared with me.

Just so's you'll know the drill:
There's another group, alt.pictures.binaries.military, that you could
post these to, and then just let us know what files to look for there.

Anyway, what is the S/N ratio of this binary NG ? I mean, how many naval
content versus land and air content ?

I refer exactly to this things... I have them in prewiew in my Newsreader
(KNode under LInux)
