A competent optician can duplicate your glasses. Retailers don't always
employ competent opticians.
Progressives have subtle markings that can identify the brand, and the add
power and even how your lenses are laid out in the frame. All too often,
however, there's some vague problem with the result and the optician falls
into a money pit trying to remake the lens just the way you want it. It may
be better to rely on your original written prescription.
Some retailers will insist on making both lenses. Some will refuse to use an
old frame. Some will require a written prescription and refuse to honor it
after six months. Or 11 months.
