I had the choice of paying for the mammogram on Thursday or coming
back the next morning. Even though I was told it would only cost $200,
I decided to come back on Friday.
So, I just wanted to let all you older women on Medicare to be aware
of this one year and a day rule.

I bet that's true with most other insurance companies as well. If they pay
for 1 screening per year, anything less than a year exceeds the allowance.

That's not a new rule. It's been in effect for a number of years.
Yes, that's what I understand now. The techician was incorrect.
It makes sense, and I thought it important to bring it to the
attention of those who might not know, just like I didn't.
Anne,
That's true of everything that's time limited. Don't go to the dentist
for your 6 month check up and cleaning a single day early or the
insurance won't pay for it.
One thing that has changed for the better is prescriptions. Most
insurance plans will pay for refills a few days early so you can go out
of town for the long trip and not worry about running out of an
important medication.

I'm glad they started doing that with prescriptions. It only makes sense.
Anne
I have to get prescriptions filled at the hospital pharmacy. A 90-day
prescription or refill requires at least 3 days' notice.

I guess I'm a spoiled brat, but that sounds like kind of a pain. I suppose
it gives them time to get stock in from another location if they're low.
