Is there a good program for transferring files/data when upgrading computers?
I remember someone mentioning one before that was said to cost about 300
dollars but cannot remember the name to save my life. Any takers? BTW - I
will be updating from Win98SE to Win2000Pro. I have Quickbooks, MSWord 2000
and WP9 that need to transfer AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE and other programs I can
manually install but would prefer as much to transfer as possible. I bought PC
Relocator - didn't do anything!!

You have a Linksys don't you? I transferred my files that way.

I didn't even think about that!! Geesh! Did it transfer "everything" or were
there still some parts you had to manually add to the new computer?

I didn't want everything transferred. I had never reformatted the hard drive
on the old computer so you know there is tons of junk on there that I don't
need. I guess my first question for you would be what kind of computer did you
get? In other words, is it one you had built or is it a "shelf" computer that
has the programs preloaded? I had both of my computers built so I have all the
software programs instead of just a recovery disk. I did a clean install of
the programs that I wanted to have on the new computer and then just
moved/copied the files that I wanted over via the Linksys.

If both computers have a CD burner you could do it that way too. That wasn't
an option for me as one had a zip drive and one a CD/RW drive.
