What is the plural form of cornua. Does it have an "e" on it?

Both cornuae were clamped with Heaney clamps.

D-Lynne.

PS. I always did hate the exceptions to the rules.

Sorry everyone,

I just realized the answer to my very silly question. The singular of cornu is exactly that the plural is cornua. I guess I
should hit the hay, hey!

Sorry for the posts.

It's not an exception. It only seems that way because you're trying
to make a plural out of a word which is already the plural -- "cornua"
is plural.

The real singular is "cornu."

"The right uterine cornu was ..."
"Both uterine cornua were ..."

You'll find it in your big dictionary, and the correct singular and
plural are also in Stedman's OB-GYN, at least.

I am so tickled that you did this! I thought I was the only one who had
posted a question (after sitting propped up at the puter for 16 hours) and
then immediately answered my own question...it IS embarrassing :))

Don't be sorry. It was fun. Now I'm going to be thinking all night
about which declension this is ... cornu, cornus, cornu, cornu, cornu,
cornua, something, something ....
