Marianne
I worked for them briefly as QA, and briefly as MT. They have a very good
QA department. Pay rates tend to be on the low side (IMHO) maybe because
they have lots of clinic work. The work isn't terribly difficult. Pay is
twice a month, they have direct deposit available. They use WP5.1 and work
is sent via Internet. You use a Dictaphone C-phone (or equivalent) to
transcribe via 800 # - no long distance charges.
They are **extremely** flexible, probably the most flexible company I've
ever worked for (and I've worked for LOTS of them). They seem to honor the
true meaning of "independent contractor" and as long as you get your quota
of lines in (I believe it is 3500/week part-time and 5000/week full-time but
don't quote me on that) you do not have to work certain days or certain
hours or any sort of schedule at all. No weekends or holidays are required.
If you are interested in working for them, I would suggest contacting Sandy
Enlow at sa...@oracleti.com. She is one of the two MTs in charge of the QA
Department. I'm sure she'd be happy to give you more specific details.

What kind of company are they to work for? Were you happy w/ them, why/why
not? Was there plenty of work? How was QA/feedback? Etc., etc. Just
wondering what you thought of them in general.
Thanx!
I didn't work long enough for OTI as an MT to really be able to answer all
of your questions properly. In general, as a company to work for, I had no
complaints. My reason for leaving the QA position was because they hired an
office manager with a totally unrealistic viewpoint on QA quotas and the
like; she was unbending, I refused to compromise quality - so I left. She
didn't last long, though, and was gone shortly after I left them. My MT
experience with them came about a year after the QA position, I was
unexpectedly "between jobs" and since I know Sandy from our years at DDI
together, she graciously hooked me up with OTI as an MT. However, I landed
there right in the middle of the slow season - not just for OTI but for most
nationals in the summer - so I had to keep looking, and found another
national that fit my needs better.
My personal feelings: For an extremely experienced MT (I have almost 30
years in this field now) there are probably other services that might pay
better and have more challenging work. However, for the fairly new MT or one
with little acute-care experience, OTI might be a good fit.
This is based on my experience; your results may vary :)
