We were browsing at Best Buy and saw this as an upgrade to the WP8
suite. It was priced at $89 for the upgrade and I was just wondering if
it is worth the $$.

Thanks.

NO! You cannot link your Stedmans and QCs did not go over at all, not even
after copying. Now, I went from WP7 to WP9. I have spent no less than 10 hours
on the phone with Corel since I upgraded. It ended up screwing with my regedit
files, you name it. Now I have to work in 9 with no spellchecker as it crashed
the 7 QCs so I cannot make any new ones or edit and then open up 7 to
spellcheck. Nothing is still working right and I hate life over it. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled, which did absolutely nothing but waste my time.

Yes, I have it; got it the day of the Road Show in Seattle. So far I have
had to remove it from my hard drive an estimated (conservative estimate at
that) 12 times. Have spent probably 4.5 hours to date (with more to come)
on telephone calls to Priority Tech Support in trying to make the blasted
program work. I think the hold-up is that my Stedman's version 6 is not
compatible with WP9. I have a version 7 on order...for a month now, and
still no sign of it.

I REALLY want WP9 to work because of some of the new features, including the
fact that when you send a document to someone via e-mail all of the WP9
coding accompanies the document and translates into whatever word processor
version they are using. Most of my clients receive their work via e-mail,
which cuts down on delivery time!

I currently am using WP7, and have purchased copies for all of my clients so
that when the Powers That Be of their organizations declare that they will
only support licenses for Word in its many variations, my clients will have
individual licenses for the WP7 loaded on their computers.

I have at last backup almost 1900 addresses in my WP7 address book, and
these do not readily translate forward to WP9 which is the word processor in
Word Perfect Office 2000. I am waiting for yet another call from Chris, my
tech person at Corel, who will tell me if he was able to convert my two
address books to the new format. We've been talking about
every-other-work-day since 6/6 and still haven't got the program up and
running. If Chris was able to wave a "magic macro" over the address books I
sent him and convert them to WP9, that will be the key to whether I keep the
program or pack the whole kaboodle into its nice little box and ship it off
to Montreal for my money back. There is a 30-day money-back period promised
by Corel, so I know I am only out the hours and hours I've spent trying to
make this work, and the $40 for the Priority Tech Support call (which by
rights, if they can't make it work should be refunded!)

Well, this epistle just gets longer and my temper just gets shorter, but Mom
always said I was the most bull-headed kid she'd ever seen. I'm going to
try to make it work because I want it to work after all this effort, and
I'll let you know the outcome. If I were you, unless you have unlimited
patience and free time, I'd wait on getting the program until you hear from
me!

Just wanted to let you know that I ordered mine the day I got the upgrade
flyer in the mail. I am sure WELL over a month ago (maybe two) and I just
received it today. Hope this version 7 will work with WP9 for you.

By the way, thanks for the warning about WP9. I have all the other
versions and will definitely pass this one up, since I like WP8 so much.

Cindy & Karen,

How horrible! I certainly sympathize with the technical hell you've
both been through. Hope Stedman's 7 will be compatible and you can make
it all work.

Thanks for the warnings. You've probably saved a lot of others from
going through the same. If only these software creators had to reimburse
us for lost time.

Stedman's 7 does not link. As a first generation WP 2000, it is totally screwed
up to the point where I have to take my computer back in on Thursday, they are
totally wiping out my hard drive and I have to start from scratch again. Thank
God I will be on vacation from June 18 to July 6 just to get the darn thing
fixed, running like it use to and get away from it.
