Okay, you are my last resort in finding a web site to help me. When I was
younger, I bought a large framed print of a futuristic landscape painting that
reminded me of the end of the world in the book "The Time Machine" by H.G.
Wells. It showed figures standing at the edge of a waveless ocean. The
picture is as clear to me today as it was 30 years ago, but I no longer can
remember who painted it.

I vaguely remember the name of the artist at the bottom of the print was
something like Stancin or Stancini. When I moved to California, the print was
lost, and I'd dearly like to find another copy or even more by the same artist.

Have any of you in your web walking found a good site for locating an artist by
a wildcard type of search? I Asked Jeeves, but he was no help at all.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I want my "end of the world"
landscape back.

Judity,
There's a really cool artists' site called She Shoots Men but that's not at
all what you're looking for, just thought I'd share it for the really
adventuresome art lovers.
I'm going to dig up my secret MT from last year and see if she might have
your answer. I remember finding some really good and comprehensive sites
when finding things to send her last year.

Did I miss something. Someone else mentioned as SECRET MT. What is a secret
MT?

You know how much I hate being excluded. Well, I have now had two pina
coladas.

Bitch! ;-) I think she is referring to something that was done for
Christmas at a website, sorta like a secret Santa!

That's MzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzBitch lovey! BTW, Secret MT is a cool thing we do
on MT Desk for MT Week. Snooze, ya lose! I will make sure my sci.med buds
are informed in plenty of time next year. You get to spoil the MT with lots
of cyber-gifts, jokes, thoughts, etc. Plus, since this was the second year,
I've met two MTs that I would otherwise not have known. Seriously way too
cool.

PS-- I did answer Janice nicely by email prior to being called names<ggg>

Thanks Bambi and the rest of you who sent me some sites via e-mail. I've been
poking around them most of the afternoon, but I must be misremembering the
artist's name for nothing is showing up even close.
This is like an itch I can't scratch and is DRIVING ME CRAZY, although I must
admit it is a fun drive to take.

It's something they do at MT Desk for MT Week. There's a message board
there about it -- you can check it out.

You should see if there are any art newsgroups and ask there.

Geez Ed, I hate when the posts don't all come through at the same time. I
*heard* you....I then instructed you to address me appropriately and that
would be Mzzzzz Bitch. Somebuddy else said I was bitchy but that's cause
they didn't read the posts right either or get them in order or whatEVER.

So, we have this whole bitch thing straight. I'm Mz Bitch. Janice is a
bitch. Collectively we are bitchy.

Did you ever find it? Inquiring minds are going nuts trying to help you and
coming up zero.

Coming up zero here, too. It's maddening that I can see the painting so
clearly but am hazy on the artist's name.

I'm off work for the next three days so will spend some time at those sites
given me trying to track this painting down. Will keep you posted, Sue.

Thanks. I've read your description so many times, trying to figure out the
magic word to search for, that I am anxious to see it, too.
