I'm 36 years old in farily good physical condition and was diagnosed w/ CP
about 1.5 months ago. I have been on Cirpo 500mg twice daily since then.
To me it doesn't seem like the Cipro is doing much. The symptoms seem
moderate, and seem to come and go. Since I'm a software developer, I
thought sitting all day was contributing, so the last two weeks I've set my
office up so I can work standing up. Still having symptoms (pressure around
what seems to be my bladder, feeling of having to go to the bathroom,
sometimes weak stream, some discomfort sitting). I've got a call into my
doctor again, and I'm wondering if I should just stay on this Cipro.

* Is there any danger in staying on Cipro for 45 + days?

* What about sex? Does it adversely affect this condition? Sometimes it
seems to help. Sometimes it seems to make it worse. Also, this is quite
embarassing, but I've noticed the first time I ejaculate that it has a kind
of gelatenous consistency. The next time (perhaps a day later) it seems
more normal. I had a vasectomy about three years ago, could this be a
contributer as well? I never paid any attention to this before, so I don't
know if it's normal or perhaps an indicator of part of the problem.

* What about exercise? I'm playing tennis or basketball a couple times a
week. Any potential problem with this?

* I'm still going to my family physician. He said a urologist would
probably follow the same treatment plan. Should I persist and ask for a
referal to a urologist?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Some experience problems with their joints or tendons during long-term
treatment. Did your doctor do cultures showing an organism sensitive to this
antibiotic, or is it being used empirically?

This varies, but I generally recommend frequent ejaculation to men with CP.

Moderate exercise often helps.

A referral to a urologist interested in CP may be beneficial, but is not a
guarantee of any better results than what's going on right now...

Best of luck. Answers interspersed above.
