There Isn't. The amount of nickel in Centrum is 5 micrograms (not
milligrams).
There is surprisingly little literature concerning the role of nickel
in human metabolism. It would seem to be an essential trace mineral
and that is probably why it is in Centrum. Deficiency symptoms have
been induced in animals but none reported in humans. Nickel is widely
available in our diet and is present in most grains and vegetables.
Allergy to nickel is one of the most common allergies, usually
presenting its self as contact dermatitis. As well as avoiding
metallic nickel, sufferers are often advised to adopt a low nickel
diet. nickel is so widely available in the food supply that trying to
avoid it seems almost pointless. Avoiding Centrum, however, would seem
a sensible precaution for those who are allergic to nickel.

Multivitamins are a very useful addition to many peoples diet. I do
not take one because I have worked out my own requirements and take
individual vitamins and minerals. There is evidence that people who
take multivitamins have a lower risk of heart disease because of the
folic acid content. A survey in the USA found that many healthy and
apparently well nourished people over the age of 65 were marginally
deficient in a number of micronutrients. This deficiency could have
been corrected by taking a multi vitamin and mineral supplement such
as Centrum.
Why not give your mum her centrum back or find her an alternative that
more accurately fulfills her needs.
If anyone knows of a brand which is really BAD please let me know
because I would like to recommend it to my step-mother
