When I looked Mepron up on the internet, the description mentioned
that it was similar in structure to ubiquinone, which is Co-Enzyme
Q10. Before I even spoke to the doctor and he decided to try me out
on the Mepron, I talked to the very nice nurse practioner in his
office. She asked me about what supplements I take, and said she was
glad to hear that I wasn't taking CoQ10 because it allows the Lyme
bacteria to protect itself from antibiotics, or something like that.
She said my vitamins C and E and other supplements were fine. Anyone
ever hear this about CoQ10? I thought it curious that I should be
warned away from CoQ10, and 15 minutes later put on a med that
resembles CoQ10 in structure. Anyone have a good explanation for
this? I would love to hear it.
I'm also going to take Ambien for sleep, although probably not on a
daily basis, just as needed. Anyone had any experience with Ambien?
TIA.

My son is on Mepron and Ziht. It is bright yellow and he says it
tastes slimey. Not his favorite thing in the world. The tests for
Babesia are only about 50% accurate -like LYme testing. This is
again one of those things you go by the symptoms not the tests.
Our LLMD had put my son on CoQ10 originally and also had me put
in my notes that if he ever took Mempron to be sure and cut out
the CoQ10. I don't know what the reasoning is, but the two are
not to be taken together. It sounded like the CoQ10 would be
alright if you weren't taking Mepron though.
We are trying to figure out a way of getting it down. Right now
it is looking like a VERY long 3 weeks!

Mepron and zith are typically prescribed for babs or suspected co-
infection. The mepron is yucky neon yellow and the taste is ... well
what liquid med does taste good? Looks like they could improve the
taste given the cost at $600.00 a bottle.
The treatment is usually 21 days on, 7 off with a possible repeat. I
did this 3 times. I saw some improvement in some symptoms. You will
SWEAT a lot. Mepron is similar to a drug used to treat mylaria.
Hopefully 1 course will do you and you will see positive results.
You'll feel pretty wiped out from about 5 or 6 days into it for a
couple of weeks. And I promise, you will sweat - mostly in your
sleep. Good luck.

Thanks,
I've been taking the Mepron/Zith for 15 days now. I am not sweating
any more than usual. I have been waking up feeling hot, even in a
fairly cool room. I do feel even more tired and achy than usual, and
I'm also having some strange itching spells, but I can't tell yet
whether this is a herx or just a bad flareup. My neck is feeling
really stiff and pressured lately, although it never feels right.
The Mepron is really disgusting. To me it tastes like bubble gum +
Pepto Bismol. I think whoever thought up adding fake candy flavoring
to medicine (at least for adults) should be tarred and feathered. As
far as I am concerned, it just makes the taste worse. I'd rather have
the med straight up. I don't expect medicine to taste good, so why try
to fool me?

Cold Mepron is really not bad. Much better than warm Mepron. The thing a
syringe is good for is measuring. I know people who used a kitchen spoon and
did not have enough Mepron to last 21 days.
