WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY? DO people really think they're
somehow helping people with Lyme by calling each other names
and engaging in meaningless threats? Mr. de Groot has behaved
very badly recently, in my opinion, and he does his position no
favors by what he writes below. And just a reality test for
Mr. de Groot:
If you really think you have a credible threat against *anyone*,
either because they have said something "forbidden" *snicker*
or that you can make a case for libel, I suggest that you wake
up out of your dream world. I have had much worse said about
me that was truly libelous and have had to respond in kind as
well. The bottom line is that most ISPs don't care and the
nature of internet law right now is such that taking such incidents
to court is an exercise in futility. If you're willing to spend
thousands and thousands of dollars to persue a case that will most
likely get thrown out of court, go right ahead, it's your time,
money, and grief.
As for everyone else, I suggest that ignoring Mr. de Groot until
he comes to his senses, that is, behaves in a civil manner, is in
order. We have more important things to do than engage in stupid,
meaningless threats against each other.

off-topic posts and suggested I write some more about Lyme.
I am only too glad to oblige:
My Czech friend read on a website that Lyme is the second
infectious disease in Germany, with 100,000 new cases each year
on a population of 80 million. That means a German has a chance
of 1 in 10 of contracting it during his lifetime. I guess the
American figure is roughly the same.
Maybe we should make the general public aware of the fact that
their chances of getting Lyme are just about the same as loosing
a game of Russian Roulette.
My friend mentioned an interesting detail about why the tick
starts to be infectious after a certain amount of hours: The tick
actualy releases body liquids into the bloodstream to make some
more room for the to-be-sucked blood.
If it would be possible to spray an area with a substance that
would prevent ticks from doing that, or causes a disturbance in
their digestive system/reflexes or whatever mechanism exactly
responsible, they would be unable to do that. Maybe a cream could
do the trick. No insect repellent will ever work 100%, but such a
substance might work better. Is there any research on this
subject?

Well if this is true and this american girl is sitting over here in
Germany already with lyme then i had better for sure be careful..All i
need is to have some sort of other strain going on. Especially over
here with the military lets play doctors.

I wanted to tell you that I am sorry Frank de Groot hurt your
feelings- more than that, I know. I thought it was a horrible thing
for him to write as well. I believe you deserve an apology but I don't
htink you will get it.
My husband's father came over from Austria when he was 4 years old.
He, his little sister, father & mother fled Vienna. They were of a
very wealthy family. Everyone else stayed- and died. My daughter's
grandfather lost *his* grandparents- and his aunts & uncles- his
cousins- all except his immediate family. They bargained their way out
of Italy and arrived in the U.S. absolutely penniless. They barely
made it. They had to pretend to be Italians when they shipped out.
My father-in-law was four- and waiting for the ship to leave they
had to spend almost a month in a hotel room in Italy. His mother and
sister and he did not speak Italian. His father did and they all had
to pretend they were Italian. Italy was not friendly to fleeing Jews.
So he and his sister and mother were inside a hotel room for weeks.
My father-in-law remembers this vividly- as a matter of fact it is
his very first memory. Shortly before they left, his father let him
out of the hotel room for an afternoon. He had to promise not to say a
single word. He was 4. He & his father walked to a plaza and his
father bought him a pretty pinwheel. He remembers feeling so free &
happy after feeling bored & stifled for weeks. There was a crowd of
pigeons in the plaza- and something startled them- and in one great
mass they rose into the air. My father-in-law at 4 yelled, "Look Papa!
Look, Papa! The pigeons! The pigeons!" Not in Italian.
He says it was like the world stopped.
His father struck him in the face. He had never been hit before,
but his father struck him. Then his father picked him up and began to
run. He says the whole way back to the hotel tears were streaming down
his father's face and he knew he had done something really bad. His
father ran back the whole way, crying. He had never been hit, had
never seen his father cry. It is his first memory of his life. He
says he can still feel, after 65 years, his father's fear; he knew if
his father was afraid, then the whole world was unsafe. He never has
felt safe again.
Another tangent. I get sidetracked. But maybe that is the whole
point. That is what Nazis were. They were death and very serious.

logia', well, I hate people who have studied Greek. Because they
are stupid. They have spent a lot of effort learning a dead

person with Down's syndrome. I couldn't prevent NOT learning
