Helen, what did you mean when you said there are other "various ways of
getting IV meds down"?

This question wasn't directed to me, but we had to find another way of "getting
IV meds down" when my daughter developed a sensitivity to the materials that
the peripheral cathers were made of. She was taught how to "butterfly" herself
and did so daily. Butterflies are the needles they use when taking blood from
your arm. They can also be used to deliver IV meds.
This technique can only be used with antibiotics that are not too hard on the
veins, such as rocephin, most others are too caustic to go in through the small
veins of the arm and require either a PICC, or a true central catheter.
Also, obviously not for the squeamish, or for those who hate needles. But, it
meant no tape was necessary at all.

I want to apologize to you for not having gotten back to you sooner, but
my telephone was out most of yesterday and until just a little while
ago. I don't have a separate line at this time, But last night my
husband told me to make an appointment to have a separate line put in.
I hope I've helped a little bit. But if you don't want to wait for
Brite.......Sarah Weiss might be able to help you. Her address is on the
board
under posts she has written.
That's it for right now, except that I'm sorry you are so sick. I just
remembered, my doctor isn't even taking any new patients. Boy, am I glad
I remembered, in case you wanted to try him out anyway. Take care of
yourself______! BTW what IS your first name??????
