"Botanical Influences on Illness" by Melvyn Werbach, M.D. and Michael
Murray, N.D. Werbach has written many books for physicians on the role of
diet (supplements) in treating and preventing human disease. This is his
first attempt to move into the herbal side of alternative medicine and he
used a naturopath to help in this effort.

If you want to learn about herbals, these are the two books you need.
Unlike most books on herbs, these were written specifically for physicians
and the authors either practice medicine or teach pharmacology for medical
students. They know what they are talking about (as far as chemical-drug,
actions of herbals). Their explanation of how they work is way above the
head of most people but it shouldn't be for physicians.
