Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what
this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver
and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to
watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for
her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining
Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the
fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one
needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames
were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she
thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and
purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he
had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was
being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the
silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it
was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the
flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith,
"How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image
in it." If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that
God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His
image in you.

Pass this on right now. This very moment, someone needs to know that
God is watching over them. And, whatever they're going through,
they'll be a better person in the end.

"Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only
spend it once."

I'm sorry, but what is the issue here? What is it about God's character
and nature is up for discussion?

This is like discussing whether lava flow is hot, hotter or hottest.

This is a game, a game of examining the Bible to see who comes up with
the best situational explanation. It is a distraction to being Christian
which I see Christianity as doing not philosophizing about.

Would suggest you inform your doctor(s) that your persistent cognitive
deficits are now associated with obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Really?

I am not the one showing classic symptoms of florid paranoid
schizophrenia.

For instance, "feeling of control by an ouside force", as well as
constantly posting gibberish. Do you also bang your head against hard
surfaces constantly and masturbate at inopportune locations and times?

Your sacking from Ocala was also textbook behaviour for someone with
Aspergers Syndrome. Your lunacy has destroyed your marriage and career,
so it's time to seek serious intervention before you actually hurt
someone physically.

Bottomline: You should be in a secure facility and medicated with a
product such as Stemetol. It isn't like you have any patients or a
practice to worry about, so go to your nearest real doctor and arrange
to have yourself admitted.

Obviously you can't admit yourself as you have no admission priveliges
at any hospital.

Take this as a friendly piece of advice. Next time, your worshipping of
the evil Phelps family might see you cut down in a hail of bullets from
a disgruntled veteran, or a genuine Christian who despises the way you
shit all over their faith.

Neither is anything else. Your creation myth perishes at the hands of
its own logic. The inherent contradictions of your above statement
prove that, as does the need for those who wish to continue to believe
in your myth to commit intellectual suicide.

I have no idea what you mean by All God = No God, but human discussion
about God, which I use the term as in Creator Of Everything, is much
like a molecule in gasoline discussing a Ferrari.

If you see your Lord reflected in the face of fellow human beings I
can only hope/pray that what you see is One with the Holy Spirit, for
your sake. All too often people soak themselves in the evil things of
life and attributes of others, and they forget to look for Christ
reflected back at them. For example, if your nature were to be
reflected back at you when you next look into the mirror, rather than
your reflection, what would look back? Would you be happy to move
aside and let it willingly be reflected into the world, or would you
take the time to examine the changes you could be making with Christ's
help?

Bible study, examination, going to church, meeting up with other
Christians and so forth are all ways in which we stand in front of the
mirror recognising the nature of our true selves and adjusting it
constantly into the likeness of Christ. It is an on going process
until the day we die.

Jesus wipes away our sins when we ask Him into our lives. He gives us
the new eyes to see through that mirror in new light. This is the
power of the cross.

I'm undoubtedly wasting my breath here, but I wonder if the people
labelling Dr. Chung as a schizophrenic would be posting the same kind

disease.

Schizophrenia is a terrible disease. I wouldn't wish it on my worst
enemy. Unfortunately, two close relatives of mine suffer from
schizophrenia. Both are disabled and unable to work.

The medications available for schizophrenia don't always work and have
many side effects. Even people who take their medications faithfully
can continue to suffer from paranoia and hallucinations. Cognition is
almost always effected and antipsychotics aren't usually of much help
in that regard.

Much research is going on, and everyone hopes that better treatments
will be developed.

I am ending my post here because tears are coming to my eyes thinking
about the effect this disease has had on my loved one's lives.

People hassle chung for several reasons.

First and foremost, he endlessly posts brainless xian fantasy garbage,
putting this mindless poisoness crap in people's faces.

This xian garbage has done incalculable damage to society, and people have
an opportunity to crticise and vent against it on usenet - and they do.

Another reason is that the man is a chronic liar, and has some ugly
character flaws that he flaunts. An example is his gloating over the recent
death of Bob P., whose only offense against chung was to do some research
about his job history, and then post it on usenet.

Schizophrenia became an obvious topic since chung is constantly claiming to
hear "holy spirits" talking to him. What else needs to be said?

Marilyn, these are adults and children acting like children. The fact
that Andrew has a running dialog with them, which he is free to do, and
is his choice, fuels their childishness. If I were in his shoes, I would
prolly make the same choices he does by responding.

I am not telling you what to do, just pointing out that we are not under

I agree in large part with the views above. However even with such an
affliction one is still responsible for his own behavior. In times past
andrew said he did not cross post, only respond to others who did. This
was only half a truth.

Now he discards any idea of pretense and does so in almost all cases,
even when replying to a message in a single newsgroup he adds others and
many of those have nothing to do with the subject. This also displays a
very vengeful attitude, if someone doesn't agree with hin even on valid
grounds he will continue adding that group to nonrelevant posts for
spite.

He makes a point to post where he will get attention to be seen as a
victum and thus to self justify claims about hinself as being in special
contact with the divine. He is soley and speciffically responsible for
these behaviors regardless of his affliction.

Then help us out, is andrew responsible for his own actions regardless
of his affliction? When he posts in spite off topic items to a
newsgroup just because otherwise valid views were expressed in it not to
his liking does his affliction excuse it?

"If he is schizophrenic which is the context of this thread, no."

Have you any experience for comparison with the paranoid schizophrenic?
It is a matter of degree and level of functioning. Many are quite able
to understand what they are doing and why and as such can not use the
affliction as an excuse for decisions. There is a great
misunderstanding in the general public on this point.

If an individual in the same manner as any decides in a deliberate path
to take revenge because he is shown in a poor light, it is not the
affliction at its root but ordinary human failing.

If that decision of revenge is amenable to self control and same is
demonstrated situationally he is fully responsible by any measure.

However when we are dealing with a more or less fixed set of behaviors
which vary in intensity as the cycle of decompensation does, then it is
a product of the affliction and not amenable to a large degree to
individual modification and thus of responsibility. Observed over time
the distinction between the ordinary human failing and the fixed
behaviors are rather obvious.

>When he posts in spite off topic items to a
> newsgroup just because otherwise valid views were expressed in it not to

"What affliction?"

I understand he is your friend and want to protect him especially from
the rabid mockers. I noted that you were away from the newsgroups for
some time and returned during the 40 day fast and seemd quite
understandably taken aback at the level of decompensation that level of
physical stress caused. You tried gently to redirect his fixed course
but to no avail and have since stayed around to do as much support and
deflection as possible. I respect you for that and you are to be
commended.

If you are sencere I can post a descriptive list of symptoms for your
consideration and you can gauge for yourself.

Interesting.

With that little quip, chung fully acknowledges that the "holy spirit"
voices are something he is *conciously* generating, himself.

That lowers the emphasis on a shizophrenic diagnosis, and adds weight to the

Even his books on running? I don't think he even mentions alcohol in
them, and I'm sure he isn't an alcoholic and doesn't promote overuse of
alcohol. You could look it up, you know. BTW, he's also a PhD.

Americans killed in Iraq as of May 06, 2007 is 3,368.
United Kingdom = 147 Other = 125.

How many more Americans must die to satisfy Bush's ego?

As of May 06, 2007 it has been 1484 days, over FOUR YEARS, since Bush
while standing in front of the banner which was sent
to the ship by the White House saying MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
declared,"In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our

Let us all pray for Bush - God knows he needs it!

Isn't Bush's "surge" of troops working well?
Pay attention to the acceleration of American deaths since it began.

It's becoming obvious that chunkers is trending toward thinking he is, or is

Let me blow this insanity of yours up right now. I know Chung. I know

The evidence of Andrew's repeated cynical obsessive use of sock puppets is
visible to anyone who looks at the headers of his posts.

There are many threads over the _years_ where Andrew has been invited to
consider posting on-topic and to refrain from spamming. His typical
responses have been to reply with cut and pastes from a meagre repetoire of
biblical or religiously stylised mishmashes of his own construction. When
these fail in the face of reasoned argument he cuts and runs or constructs
rather poor logical fallacies. When really pressed he goes deaf and blind.
Would that he would also go dumb and take up pinball.

With respect to the well being of sci.med.cardiology and other useful Usenet

No doubt Moo Poo punk knows all sorts of mental defectives, and is probably
one himself, and may even be chung himself, posting under an alias. (Yet
another symptom, in itself?)

Anyone familiar with Chung's posts know he alludes to getting information
from supernatural beings. Often, he refers to the "Holy Spirit" . Auditory
hallucinations are a common symptom of schizophrenia.

from http://www.ehealthmd.com/library/schizophrenia/SCH_symptoms.html#hallu

"The most common type of hallucination is hearing imaginary voices that give
commands, make comments, or warn of impending danger. The person experiences
these voices talking to them as "he" or "she" (third-person auditory
hallucinations)."

The constant references to "unmedicated schizophrenic," besides being
rude, just show that the people posting know little about
schizophrenia. For many people with schizophrenia, the available
medications are ineffective or only partially effective against their
psychotic symptoms. Therefore, even if you know someone is having
such symptoms, that does not imply that person is not on medication.

Why don't you people get a life?

No, they're basically appropriate rejoinders to someone who claims that he

Perhaps, but if you really think someone is mentally ill, why would
you criticize them for their actions? Do you think they can control
themselves if they only try hard enough? Do you get your kicks from
making fun of mentally ill people? I think that's cruel and pathetic.

Of course you would. Do you think mental illness is a ticket that allows
people to do whatever they want?

Most of the religions of the world were founded and perpetuated by people
claiming the authority of a relationship with supernatural beings.

Some were nuts, some were liars. all were harmful.

That's not the point. Should psychos be free to kill and rape?

Sad to read about this.

Then you know firsthand that folks with paranoid schizophrenia would
shun usenet and other public forums, would be unable to pray, and
would decompensate when threatened by others.

Thus, you know personally that GOD has kept me from suffering from
such a debilitating mental illness that has stricken two members of
your family.

Is that true? Give us some credible psychiatric sources that back up what
you say above.

Most people are aware that all sorts of nuts show up on Usenet and use it as
a forum for acting out their mental problems.

As for you, Andrew:

You claim to receive communications from a supernatural "holy spirit".

You make predictions of impending disasters, that don't occur.

You claim authority based on some sort of relationship and stature with
supernatural beings.

You denounce people, based on this supposed stature and knowledge given you
by the "holy spirit", and other supernatural beings.

You make claims about supernatural demons, devils and "satan".

You make truly bizarre, weird references about people being covered with
"satan's ejaculate".

> Thus, you know personally that GOD has kept me from suffering from
> such a debilitating mental illness

I think this is an example of a person with mental problems being in denial,
and finding it much more convenient to ascribe their symptoms to an elevated
relationship with supernatural beings.

As far as I know, a common symptom of schizophrenia is for the victim to
ideate beings who are talking to him, giving him information and commands.
