It's quite possible this is one avenue through which low-dose naltrexone
functions. LDN enhances mu opioid receptor expression and the mu opioid
receptor enhances signaling via the cannabinoid system, which would then
go on to affect nerves and immune cells (particularly B cell
proliferation). There's direct evidence for this in analgesia [PMID
16286810].
