I now realized when things started to go wrong. I delivered a lot of stuff to him when he arrived.

Among the things I delivered was an Arduino, not something that we would use on the project but they are great for developing and refining C routines to be used elsewhere.

I am a strong believer in developing and testing code in isolation before trying to integrate it into a large project.

Thermistors, do you use a routine to do a Steinhart-Hart calculation or do you use a look up table.


If you have loads of ROM use a look up table, Lots of CPU power do the calculation.

I do not think so. First Gabriel is not as dumb as Archimedes Plutonium,
he can do basic arithmetic *practically*, like an accountant, he has
nevertheless big issues with the logical foundations of arithmetic.
He's shown being able to deal with elementary "mainstream" analysis or
algebra problems (even if goofing quite a lot), still pretending to deny
the validity of its roots (complex numbers for instance). It is
similar to Wolfgang Mueckenheim asserting in the forewords of his
book to "assume existence of infinity" even if he think that it
is a contradictory mathematical concept. At the end WM's book is
under-average, full of faulty proofs, very low quality but still
exposing, basically, correct theorems.

Moreover, in the IT industry, often not much than "peeing code" is
required. Test frameworks tend to consume most of the work in
order to make sure new features do not break everything. In such
context a suboptimal programmer like John Gabriel won't be the
only one to find a job. Of course we can all imagine how his
very peculiar way to deal with other people and to think of
himself as a genius while he is a nut will make his position
end up.

Not exactly, for the new product we wanted to build I placed a Microchip development board in a plastic box. To protect it.

The way you design a product is you use the chip manufacturer development board as a test platform and then when the code is done and stable you make your own PCB using only the components required for your application but utilizing the PCB layout the chip manufacturer provides

Mr. X reached out to me in my hour of need. I have never slept in a homeless shelter and was languishing in the old car I had paid far too much to own. Everything Mr. X did for me, was done unconditionally. He knew and acknowledged that I wouldn't be able to repay him. Truth is, I owe him my life, which is nothing compared to the $12000 he spent on me.

What Spencer doesn't tell you is how he sent out a batch of plastic boxes which he just "dropped" the hardware inside and more than 50 customers returned the same. He also doesn't tell you how many times he turned up to a customer's site absolutely motherless. A more incompetent moron, dishonest, jealous and malicious human being is hard to find. Well, Dan Christensen is in the same category. They aren't friends for nothing!

Mr. X is highly intelligent - one of the most intelligent men I have ever met. Now life batters one from all sides, it's not uncommon even for such men to have some minor quirks. In the early 1980s a company designed an electronic control for turning on and off compressors in a refrigeration system in grocery stores. Previous to that the pressure of the refrigerant was controlled by electromechanical pressure switches that turned on compressors when the pressure was low and turned them off when the pressure was high.

This company made a product that would save energy by turning compressors on and off within tight limits. not the "all or nothing" scenario.

It even allowed for compressors of different HP to be on the same refrigeration system so it could select which compressors to run depending on the cooling required.

This control was designed in 1987

It uses printed circuit boards that use through hole components. Many components are now obsolete.

The company I work for now only sells spare parts for things we sold 20 to 30 years ago.

Some customers buy parts to keep a 30 year old unit working.

Others replace our control with a 2018 version from some one else.

Our sales of spare parts are in decline as more customers switch to a more modern alternative.

We needed a 2017 ( when John was here ) alternative to offer our customers.
