This is bad news. Allan was one of the few people in this news group worth
reading. His knowledge of classical mathematics is phenomenal.

That's sad too. Usually institutions where Allen try go are interested
in to know why he left the U of Kentucky. And of course U of K think
that Allen is 'quilty' when they get a phone call from the new
institution.

I would concur. I think Allan is out of touch with some of the modern
realities of science, but I regret his loss of a base to work out of.
The world flourishes because of intellectual diversity, the loss is
all of ours.
