You're almost right. The influx of energy is absorbed long enough to
sustain the particle's standing wave (not really "move electrons"..
they're in "orbit"). However, it is returned (reflected) shortly
after (proportional to light propagation speed). Nonetheless, any
object does create a "shadow" around it, or a "sink" as you describe
it. I wouldn't call it a "void" though, as there is no zero energy,
just less of it compared to the background. This is why the
"graviton" is a ridiculous concept, unless one considers shadows or
lack of photons to be a particle..

The influx is never shielded or blocked completely, unless you believe
