EPSRC PhD project studentship in the area number theory & ergodic theory

A fully-funded PhD studentship is available for the
project "Arithmetic and geometry of p-adic amoebas" at the
University of East Anglia.

This project involves a rather open-ended exploration of the
properties of geometrical objects that have arisen in some
problems coming from number theory, ergodic theory and
dynamical systems. It will be of interest to a student
with interests in number theory or ergodic theory/dynamical
systems.

The PhD may be started at any point between September 2004
and March 2005.

The project will provide a full tax-free stipend and all fees
for any EU student. In addition there is generous travel
funding.

It is also open to non-EU students, with the possibility of ORS
funding to bridge the gap between EU and International fees.

Full details of the project are on the web at the url

Please encourage anyone who might be interested in this to
contact me.

Best wishes

Tom
