My wife will celebrate her 40th anniversary in two weeks. I would like to
produce some very special congratulations from "around the world". Therefore,
I try to collect as many "Happy Birthday" greetings in as many languages from
around the world I can get. I would appreciate very much receiving e-mails
telling me how "happy birtday" is expressed in your native language and an
attached wave file with a spoken native "happy birthday"

Thanks for your help,
Thomas

In Russian "Happy birthday" is "С днём рождения!"
In Ukrainian: "З днем народження!"
In Bulgarian: "Честит рожден ден!"

In (modern) Greek:
Χρόνια πολλά
(i.e "many years").
But in Greece, they usually celebrate your name day (your saint's day)
rather than your birthday.

Thought for the day: If you want somebody to look at your accounts,
do you ask somebody who hasn't studied mathematics since the
age of 16?
No, of course not!
So why do so many people think that anybody can be a translator?

Hello,
In Greek is : " Chronia Polla" and " Eftichismena Genethlia" ( in Latin
transliteration and in Greek characters it is :
"Χρόνια Πολλά" & "Ευτυχισμένα Γενέθλια"
(you have to change your browser to the Greek encoding to view the character
set)

Be aware that in the Swedish version, there should be a ring over the a in
"pa" and two dots ("prickar" in Swedish, giving rise to many a joke) over
the o in "fodelsedagen". If you can see the characters, here's how they
should look:

Grattis på födelsedagen!

In Greek it is :

In latin transliteration  it is : Na ta ekatostiseis kai chronia polla.

In Dutch you say to someone: "Gefeliciteerd (met je verjaardag)".

On a card several things are possible, like

"Prettige verjaardag"
"Gefeliciteerd!"

"Saya cinta kamu" means "I love you" in Malaysian or Indonesian; "happy
birthday" is "selamat hari ulangtahun" and you could also add "dan panjang
