Could anyone help with the translation of "sous pli cartable" in the
following context, relating to items being shipped to Algeria:
ATTESTATION PROUVANT AVOIR TRANSMIS SOUS PLI CARTABLE UN JEU DE FACTURE EN
CINQ EXP + CONNAISSEMENT ORIGINAL

Certificate proving that a set of invoices (5 copies) + original Bill of
Lading have been submitted - sous pli cartable

Could this relate to a "ship's bag", or would the ship have to be mentioned
with the cartable? We cannot find any reference to a cartable in marine
dictionaries. We need to know whether the documents are to go direct to the
customer by post or with the items by ship.

If you think you can help, please reply to:

"sous pli cartable" means that you must send the original documents
(invoice + air waybill) with the goods.
This kind of instructions must be given to the forwarding agent.
It can be requested for airfreight or seafreight shipments.
Hope it will help,
Rgds,
Sylvie

"pli cartable" ou "cartable de bord" means that you ust send the
original documents (invoice, bill of lading... all documents requested
in the contract or letter of credit) along with the goods.
Original documents must accompany the goods (by air or sea), but not
by post.
Hope it will help,
rgds,
Sylvie
