Dear all,
does anybody have an idea what "olara" means? It is supposed to be a word in
a European language, however only used colloquially. Many thanks for any
hints!
Johannes.

The word really is "OLARA" rather than anything else. Also, it's not
supposed to be a regular word, rather colloquial or dialect.
Thanks anyway!
Johannes.

A google search gave one hit in turkish; restricted to spanish sites, it
gave about 20 for music, and one for basque:

About 1400 others were for Olara Otunnu, a UN officer (I think).

Eurodicautom gave hits in english, danish, spanish, french, german, dutch,
italian and portuguese, like:

It's a Turkish word (if it's the one you mean at all), so let's hope
there's a Turkish speaker out there who can tell you what it means.

Hi Johannes,
Using my glossary search interface at

www.ticino.com/usr/puffin/findit.htm (click on Finding Glossaries)

I found this definition:
ol: magic, magical power or items ("olara" refers to natural magic,
not used or influenced by beings)
olor: world, all lands, the entire territory of Toril seen by, and
known to the dwarves
(http://www.delving.com/addword.html)
On this web page, search for "olara". The text is hidden so you have
to drag your mouse over it to view it!

Could this be what you are looking for?
