To me it sounds like an active participle of "fundar", corresponding to
"que funda" and meaning roughly the same as "fundamental". (In this
context, as so often, such words do not mean much - they are there just
to make the text sound more impressive. As a person who has been
requested to translate without mentioning that you may modify the text
to make it clearer, you should probably translate them rather literally,
though.) But my Spanish is rather poor, and I may have entirely missed
the problem.
I think it means PROVING, SUBSTANTIAL, BASIC, FUNDAMENTAL, ESSENTIAL,
MAIN, SIGNIFICANT ... ou something alike.
