For any Japanese film fans out there, on September 25th Shochiku will
release the first in a series of Yasujiro Ozu DVD box-sets.

The set includes his most famous film, Tokyo Monogatari, and four
others along with an bonus DVD. The discs probably won't contain
English subtitles.

If this is an essential buy for you, which it is for me, then start
saving your 1 yen coins as the set costs 23,000 yen - and there are
three more to follow.

In article <3279311b.03081...@posting.google.com>, mukade says...

Let me borrow them when you're done.

That is a lot of yen. And an odd collection, but considering they're releasing
everything, I guess they've got to save some big titles for Vol 2-4.

A VERY old post I'm responding to from about 4 years ago. What is the
status of the release of the complete works.

I noticed that "late works" was available via Netflix and so have been
viewing these movies.
