Vocabulary for describing textures of foods / substances in Japanese

In a recent conversation with a friend of mine, I was trying to come up
with words to describe textures of certain foods (as I did not know
what the foods were called), and it occured to me that my vocabulary in
this area is pretty weak. I was wondering if anyone in the group could
help me out with this? I made an English list of the kind of words I'm
looking for:
Fluffy, Light, Squishy (like mochi), Hard, Soft, Wet, Crumbly (like a
cookie), Flaky (like some breads), Powdery, Crunchy, Smooth, Mushy,
Slushy, slippery, Dry, Sticky, Slimey, Rough, Brittle, Gooey, Creamy,
Solid, Firm, Shinny, Dull, Flexible, Jello-y
This is a pretty half-assed list, made quickly with out a lot of
thought, and half of the words don't even apply to food (flexible, for
instance), but this is the kind of vocabulary I'd like to learn in
Japanese. I recognize some of those words might not translate directly
into Japanese, and that there's probably this sort of Japanese word
that doesn't translate directly into English.
Of course when I look up words like "flaky" in a dictionary, I get
words like 砕けやすい (kudakeyasui). I'm assuming this is just a
direct translation of that word into Japanese, and it would sound
akward if actually used to describe a cookie, etc. (but maybe/probably

I think the sort of words you are looking for are often gitaigo 擬態語 or giongo
擬音語.
For example I would use フワフワ (fuwafuwa) for light.
I have put together a list that includes a lot of gitaigo and giongo
by an arcane and unreliable process. Look for examples of these in
actual use before using any.

filtering and pruning.
I think (g)itaigo/(g)iongo could be another candidate for a dictionary
tag but I know Jim's got more than enough on his plate at the moment.

OK, so it wasn't that arcane.

but it really is unreliable.
I started with Edict in MS Access form (a few weeks old version)
then I filtered it on
Left([hk],2)
with the criteria
= Mid([hk],3,2)
I then removed 々 duplicate lines (any 青々 entry will also have
a 青青 entry).
I then deleted a bunch that weren't (IMO) gitaigo or giongo by
eye, although there's still a lot of false positives in there.

If there was a list of 擬態語/擬音語 (extracted from EDICT), I could
use it to add "mim" or "onam" tags.
