I am looking for source code to convert images. The native format of the
system is TIF and I need to convert it to a web safe format for an
application.

Can someone point me in the right direction. If there is free stuff out
there that would be great but I am willing to pay also.

Thanks,

Jeff:

i do not know if this well be of great help to you or not, but if you
have the
time, you might want to look at http://www.wotsit.org. They have file
specifications for all possible file formats and if you have the
manpower, you
may write in-house codes for converting these files.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Rajeev

Try my C++ library

MST Image C++ library for reading/writing raster images
http://www.rpd.univ.kiev.ua/homes/opl/ysm/mst/doc
It now supports TIFF and JPEG via external LIBTIFF and IJG libraries(also
PCX,
and BMP are supported).
It's usage is simplier because you should not dive into those two libraries
but
only in my. It's usage is even more reasonable if you are going to work with
other formats.
Even it now supports not much formats but it is under development. Future
releases will support GIF, TARGA, ...

Try ImageMagick available at most Linux archive sites (e.g.
http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux). Although I use it on UNIX,
it's rumoured to compile under Windows NT. It supports a huge array
of image formats and includes a command-line conversion tool for
batch conversions. Best of all, it's free.

Jeff,

You might try Micrografx software. I have a copy of it and it does allow you to take a Tiff and save it as a Jpeg or Gif along with other formats.
