I have built an app for medical imaging and want to use a camera to grap
live images.

Unfortunately when using MSysInquire I have no digitizers available, and
therefore cannot allocate a digitizer and grab images from the camera.

The target machine runs Windows 95, has a basic meteor card installed, and
I am using MIL 4.0 with VB 4.0.

Intellicam works fine but any applications built with VB (including the
sample apps that come with MIL) do not work when attempting to grab a live
image.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Steve,
I have a lot experience with MIL but our S/W configuration is a litle bit
different than yours - WinNT , MIL 5.0 and Visual C++ 5.0.
Still, I think I understand the problem - it can be due two factors:
1) The "system allocation" had been done improperly or failed
- advise the manual how the allocation for Meteor should be done -
MsysAlloc(...) and check for errors after the allocation is done -
MappGetError(...)
2) To be able to grab the image you HAVE TO have non-pagebale memory
defined in the registry.
- Make certain that the Meteor was properly installed (the MIL installer
should to the job).
- Make certain that you include all requested files for Meteor in your
project (DLL etc.)

If all this does not help, let me know a little bit more about your
configuration

PS
Meteor "sucks" - it's good only to grab and display but not to measure. The
jitter is huge.
Good luck

What do you mean "measure"?

We had problems when we first started using the Matrox Pulsar. Your symptoms
sound similar to ours. The problem with the Pulsar is that it uses a PCI-PCI
bridge which many earlier (i.e. even early 1997) motherboards/BIOSes simply
don't support. So if you put a Pulsar into one of these machines it doesn't
work - end of story. Now I don't know if the Meteor also uses a PCI-PCI
bridge, but if it does, save yourself some time and much frustration by
first checking out if your motherboard can actually support it. Matrox do
have a moderately useful FAQ and PC compatibility lists somewhere on their
web-site (http://www.matrox.com/imaging).
