I am using Nokia N82 with embedded GPS.
The displayed altitude is not that on the level of the sea (geoid)
but
that on the ellipsoid.
The required correction is different from point to point and needs to
be found.
Is possible to get the correct value automatically?
Many gps does it. It is a matter of firmware.
Seem me impossible that the gps of the Nokia could not do it.

Thank you.

Same here for my HTC/Google G1 phone. I actually held it at Pacific
Ocean level (near Fort Bragg) and it displayed between -12 meters and
-16 meters. A Garmin 60CSX held the same way displayed -2 meters.

It sure looks like the cell phone programmers just took the raw data
from the GPS chipset and displayed it without adding all the
corrections.
