My name is Diego and I work at the NATIONAL AERONAUTIC TECHNOLOGY
INSTITUTE of Spain (INTA), I am trying to find the (ICD-GPS-059)
standard and I have not seen it anywhere, Anyone knows where could I get
it?

THANK YOU!

This GPS ICD controls the input and output of data between specific
military GPS receivers and other systems; typically military aircraft.
While the ICD can be informative in the general sense its scope of
application is very narrow. The Spanish Air Force or Navy might be a
user of this ICD and therefore could be a source

The ICD does not describe GPS as a system nor does it define or control
data at the GPS system level. ICD-GPS-200 of course is the controlling
ICD for GPS at the system level.

Regards,
Chuck Wagner

UNCLAS
SUBJECT: GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) END OF WEEK (EOW) ROLLOVER
PROBLEM
1. YESTERDAY WE RECEIVED REPORTS THAT SOME MILITARY GPS RECEIVERS
ARE EXPERIENCING INCOMPATABILITIES BETWEEN INTERFACING SYSTEMS THAT
PASS THE GPS WEEK NUMBER WHICH MAY LEAD TO POTENTIALLY SERIOUS
POST-EOW ROLLOVER ANOMALIES. WE NEED YOUR HELP IN DETERMINING THE
EXACT NATURE AND OPERATIONAL IMPACTS OF THIS PROBLEM.
2. THE PROBLEM AT THIS POINT APPEARS TO BE PRIMARILY MANIFESTED IN
SYSTEMS REQUIRING ALMANAC DATA TO BE LOADED IN PRIOR TO THE MISSION.
PROBLEM REPORTS TO DATE INCLUDE SOME PGM'S AND MISSION PLANNING
SYSTEMS (MPS).
3. IN AN ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THIS PROBLEM, WE NEED
ALL USERS TO CONDUCT SYSTEM-LEVEL EVALUATION OF ALL SYSTEMS THAT
HANDLE GPS DATA AND PROVIDE ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING (AS APPLICABLE)
NO LATER THAN COB 31 AUG 99 (PLEASE KEEP ALL RESPONSES UNCLASSIFIED;
WE WILL FOLLOW UP VIA SECURE VOICE IF ADDITIONAL DATA IS NEEDED):
PAGE 05 RUVRAAA0237 UNCLAS
A. PLATFORM NAME (E.G., F-15, F-18, M1A1).
B. PLATFORM-MOUNTED GPS RECEIVER TYPE, MANUFACTURER, SERIAL NUMBER,
SOFTWARE VERSION (E.G., MAGR, CUGR).
C. WEAPON WITH GPS RECEIVER (E.G., JSOW, JDAM).
D. WEAPON-MOUNTED GPS RECEIVER TYPE, MANUFACTURER, SERIAL NUMBER,
SOFTWARE VERSION.
E. MISSION PLANNING STATION TYPE, MFR (E.G., AFMSS,
LOCKHEED-SANDERS).
F. EXTERNAL GPS DATA SOURCE USED WITH MPS (E.G., NAVCEN ALMANACS).
G. PROBLEMS FOUND (YES/NO).
H. IF A PROBLEM WAS FOUND, WHICH INTERFACE WAS IT ON? (E.G.,
PLATFORM RCVR-WEAPON RCVR, MPS-WEAPON RCVR).
I. NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM.
J. POINT OF CONTACT (NAME, PHONE, EMAIL ADDRESS).
4. NEGATIVE REPLIES ARE REQUIRED.
5. AT ISSUE IS THE VALUE ASSIGNED TO GPS WEEK NUMBER AS PASSED VIA
GPS RECEIVER INTERFACES. SOME SYSTEMS (PLATFORM RECEIVERS, MISSION
PLANNING SYSTEMS, WEAPON RECEIVERS) ALLOW (AND EXPECT) GPS WEEK
VALUES TO INCREMENT PAST 1023, WHILE OTHERS DO NOT. WHEN SYSTEMS
WITH DIFFERING GPS WEEK VALUES ARE INTERFACED, PROBLEMS MAY ARISE.
PAGE 06 RUVRAAA0237 UNCLAS
6. IF A GPS RECEIVER IS INITIALIZED WITH ALMANAC DATA FROM A SYSTEM
THAT HAS A DIFFERENT VALUE FOR THE GPS WEEK NUMBER, THAT RECEIVER MAY
HAVE DIFFICULTY WITH INITIAL SIGNAL ACQUISITION. THE DELAY IN
ACQUISITION COULD (IN SOME CASES) DEGRADE OR RENDER THE SYSTEM
TEMPORARILY NON-MISSION CAPABLE. IF A GPS RECEIVER IS USED TO
PROVIDE DATA TO A MPS PROGRAMMED TO ACCEPT A DIFFERENT VALUE FOR GPS
WEEK NUMBER, THE MPS MAY REJECT THE DATA ENTIRELY, OR MAY REQUIRE
SPECIAL HANDLING OF THE DATA. OTHER IMPACTS MAY EXIST THAT HAVE NOT
YET BEEN REPORTED AT THIS EARLY STAGE OF OUR INVESTIGATION.
7. THE FOLLOWING GPS USER EQUIPMENT (UE) INTERFACE CONTROL DOCUMENTS
(ICD) CONTAIN A 16 BIT FIELD TO REPRESENT ALMANAC WEEK NUMBER. THIS
MAY NOT BE AN ALL INCLUSIVE LISTING AND DOES NOT INCLUDE NON-GPS
JOINT PROGRAM OFFICE (JPO) DEFINED INTERFACES.

KEY SUPPORT CONTRACTORS. PLEASE REPORT REQUESTED INFORMATION TO

GINA is the predecessor to the Embedded GPS Inertial (EGI) program.
GINA was procured as a Nondevelopmental Item (NDI) to support T-45's
mission to train the next generation of warfighters in the use of INS, GPS,
and GPS/INS hybrid systems. GINA's primary users are the T-45
operational flight trainer aircraft, the LCAC air-cushioned landing craft,
and the AWACS command, control and surveillance aircraft.

Just another request if anyone actually does run across 059 in
electronic form to post a URL. The ICD is HUGE and a real pain to
look things up. I haven't been able to find one on the net.

For those unfamiliar, 059 is a spec that defines military receiver
interfaces over the 1553. Collins Phase 3 supports 059 as well as
MAGR.

Thanks,
Michael

If it's not freely available, I would suspect it may have controlled
distribution (i.e Official Use). Contact the Spanish Ministry of
Defense and request a copy.
