Does anyone know how to reset the date on a Garmin GPS12?
It is exactly two epochs ahead ( June 2039). I read on deja
that a software reload would do it, but I upgraded from 4.54
to 4.57 and did not fix the problem. I'm reluctant to exchange
my unit for a new one with Garmin as I TRUST this one - no
condensation inside, no sticky keys, no battery problems etc.
that others have reported on the ng. BTW, the unit operates
perfectly but tracklogs and waypoints are timestamped with
the wrong date and sunset/sunrise calcs get tedious. I can
understand that Garmin would not publicize a keysequence to do
this (think of the support problems that would cause them).
If they do, pls don't post it here!

No help from anyone yet. Today is the 18 June 2039 according to my G12.

On the diagnostic screen (I discovered documented on
Dale DePriest's website, thanks Dale) it has a few lines
as follows:

RCVR LSI OK (presumably the receiver chip is OK)
FLASH OK (flash memory OK)
RTC ---- UNKN

Does UNKN mean unknown? Is this a problem with its real time clock??

Diagnostic screen continues with:
an elapsed time meter (reset by the upgrade)
STACK OK
and then a series of what seems like memory addresses for
routines like RCVR_MGR etc.

It still works great except for the date.

Assuming you have a version beyond 4.54 where this was fixed I can't
understand why this is so. You could totally reset the unit and see if
this fixes it. (Power 0n- Mark) Otherwise I think you need to return it
to Garmin for a fix.

Thanks for all your help. I ran the Garmin eow program which
I found on Garmin's website and that fixed the problem. Interestingly
Garmin seemed to have removed that program from their website in the
last few days. That might have been a bit premature.

BTW I tried the poweron-mark reset without success when it was still
running 4.54 and again with no success with 4.57. I have copied Garmin
on the outcome.
