The Australian dealer successfully uploaded part of bluechart Pacific V 6.5
plus city navigation Australia V5 in my 60C -Software version 3.50.

I think the quality of the GPSMAP60C is great but there is a serious lack
of documented manual from Garmin.

In a rough estimate, my GPSMAP60C has about 25% more "undocumented screen"
than Color_Map_Navigator_Owner's_Manual describes.

I have NOT been to get an explanation about these screens.

Plus the Color_Map_Navigator_Owner's_Manual explains about road navigation
but mentions hardly anything about Marine Navigation.

1) Would anyone know where I can find more marine explanations for the
MAP60C?
Like a "Reference Manual" or webpages for the MAP60C?

2) Because my MAP60C is loaded with the Basemap(original) plus 2 types of
charts ( bluechart Pacific V 6.5 plus city navigation Australia V5 ) I have
problem to "hide" and "unhide" the bluechart and city navigation.
Menu > SetupMenu >
then it displays
"Menu"
-->restore defaults
--> restore ALL map defaults
-->Show All
-->Show None
--> Show Basemap
--> hide Bluechart Pacific
-->show citynavigator
( this is only one example - there are more undocumented screens like this)

The last three are NOT toggle switches. This wording (SHOW or HIDE) make it
very difficult to understand what type of map is ON or OFF.
"SHOW" and "HIDE" are not friendly toggles.

When I toggle the Bluechart Pacific by having it set to HIDE the PAGES do
NOT seem to change if BASEMAP is on HIDE.

They remain City Navigation PAGES instead of MARINE navigation PAGES.

Is there a way my PAGES can default automatically to MARINE or
CITYnavigation?

You are right. Bluechart is not documented and not supported by
Garmin on the GPSmap60C. Check their web page for marine units for
which Garmin officially supports Bluechart. Be happy that it works
for now.

The manual that came with my 60C documents this screen on page 49.
For what other screens have you not found documentation?

When the map is shown, your choice is HIDE. When the map is hidden,
your choice is SHOW. When more than one map covering the area
visible on the screen is shown, the one you see is determined by an
internal priority order. You do not see a mix of the maps. To see a
lower-priority map, hide the one above it.

I assume you mean by "PAGES" the Map Setup icons across the top of
the screen. We cannot change what choices appear on those pages. The
60C remembers the last-used page when you go to Map Setup, rather
than defaulting to a fixed page.

If you want Garmin to change the arrangement of its menus, submit a
suggestion at http://www.garmin.com/contactUs/techSupport.jsp.

Fred,

The 60C is bluechart compatible as stated on Garmins website....it is even
listed in the marine unit product area (?).

You are right. I missed the popup box that says it. IIRC, it was not
available when I looked for it when shopping for my 60C. Thank for
the correction.
