I'm looking for recommendations for a handheld gps primarly for sailing
What do you suggest ?

At the moment, what most appeals to me is the Garmin GPS Map76

Thanks in advance for your comments

Although the GPSmap 76 is listed as a "Marine" GPS, when you load the marine
navaids, the unit uses a very crude basemap for the shoreline...
See: http://www.gpsinformation.net/waas/g76/g-76-map.html

I really don't have any experience with the "Blue Charts", but if I was a
serious boater, I'd look into a GPS that uses these charts...???

Acutally, Garmin plans on making the BlueCharts available on CD later this
year. They will be compatible with the Map76. The BlueCharts are
outstanding, by the way!

I have bought mine online for less than US $ 100 here at this link:

It's the Garmin's eTrex GPS and it offers a sleek design that mariners
find convenient and practical.
