What's the best way to generate a set of bathymetric cross-sections? That is, an x-y plot of depth versus (say) latitude, from a dataset like NOAA-NGDC's seafloor topography from Smith and Sandwell. Matlab? GMT?
Thanks in advance.

I've used Tekplot for that and it worked pretty well. I wouldn't want to try it in GMT. :)

Have you tried contacting Dave Sandwell? He and Smith are both from Scripps in La Jolla, CA. You may want to try emailing them there for your question. Good luck.
