Any good fossicking locations close to Melbourne, Australia. Here are a few
of mine:
Tomahawk Creek, Gembrook
Nice quartz and feldspar crystals, a few beryl's and zircons. Also saphires
if you dig about 4-6 ft along the banks.
Yarra River at Warrandyte
Gold in the river plus quartz and feldspar crystals
Beachworth
Many types of gemstones
I am particularly interested in the creeks near Melbourne, Daylesford,
Warburton and Lake Eildon

If you're interested in places aroung phillip Island, there are quite a few
places around the south and south western areas. Post if you want more
info.

it's become one of my favourite.
There's a place called Morella near the western side of the Grampians, and
near there is a national park very famous for it's high grade crystals.
Hard work to unearth new ones, but some good specimens can be found after
rain in the tailings. If you do go, check anything you find closely for
mobile gas bubbles inside the crystals.

Right, back to Melbournes mineral locations... Poweltown has some of the
best areas around, though a little over worked now days. I have found
good smoky and citrine quartz, and some amethyst, also blue topaz is
meant to be available.
pleanty of fossil locals if you know where to go.
phosphate minerals at Mansfield and Whitfield, incl. wavelite and
torquoise.
Wavelite at fish creek
In Melb. proper, the basalt quarries are full of zeolite minerals,
calcite and aragonite.
The best locality was Bundoora, but that has closed recently. The
Flinders coast and phillip island are good localities, but the costal
areas are NP. protected, so go with a club (they get permission to
collect).
Are you after mineral samples or gemstones?
Are you interested in trading?
