WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #198 MAY 14 - 21, 1995

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W):

Tropical Depression 1E: Tropical Depression 1E formed near 13N 105W on 21
May. At the end of the summary period, it was moving west with 30 kt winds.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg.):

Tropical Depression: At the start of the summary period, the tropical (or
possibly hybrid) depression was moving east-northeast over the open Pacific.
The system continued this track until it became extratropical near 32N 135E
on 15 May. Maximum sustained wind were estimated at 30 kt.

North Indian Ocean Basin:

Tropical Depression: A tropical depression formed over the northern Bay
of Bengal near 21N 87E on 15 May. The system drifted north-northeast and
moved inland in the India-Bangladesh border region the next day. The cyclone
drifted north-northeast over land on 17 May, then it weakened to a low pres-
sure area on 18 May. Maximum sustained winds in this system were estimated
at 30 kt. There are no reports of damage or casualties at this time.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.
