Alternate explanation for the appearance of granite on the ocean floor relies
on the pressure-solubility of volcanic gases in water as dictated by Henry's law.
At 900 m depth of the Rio Grande Rise, volcanic gases are no longer soluble
in water, but rush to the surface where they combine with atmospheric
oxygen to form pumice and quartz-sand. As illustrated at Kavachi,
the yellow pumice turns green as it sinks below blue waters.

The pumice sinks to the ocean floor where aluminum-silicate mud fills
its vugs, thus transforming pumice into aluminum-silicate bearing granite.
