in simpler words: the input which is a complex number is 2d and the output is also a complex number so it is also 2d
meaning in order to see it you need 4d not 3d

now maybe what you are looking for is "Mandelbulb" but it is using spherical coordinates. so it is not canonical 3-dimensional Mandelbrot set!!!
