You need to at least define a time scale for this question because
ultimately whatever crap we dump into the environment (including radioactive
materials with million year halg lives) will slip under the neighbouring
tectonic plate.
But making some basic assumptions about your question, I would say it is
*possible* to greatly limit the extent of the damage and have a recovery
begin in a few decades.

That depends on some undefined terms. What do you consider damage?
Obviously, kill off everyone and 'Nature' will provide a state that some
would consider 'improved' at some point, but is that the objective?
